Four students in each discipline will be reimbursed 100% of the tuition fees(Govt.fees) every year upto the normal completion of course. Any disruption on account of any kind of failure will make the student ineligible for further availing of scholarship.

Further details on the programme
Upon successful completion of two years in the programme the candidates will be awarded a Masters' Degree in Physics. The candidates with a minimum Grade Point would continue to work for their Ph.D. advancing the topic of their M.Sc. dissertation with the same guide or if necessary embark upon a new subject with another guide. Some of them may like to leave after completing their M.Sc. In the third year of the Programme, students who qualify for continuation in the programme leading to the PhD degree will begin research work. The fellowship will be enhanced to Rs. 12000/pm beginning the third year and to Rs. 14000/pm beginning the fifth year of the programme. The normal duration of the IPhD programmewill be 6 years, including the minimum 2 years for the Masters' Degree. The candidates would satisfy all the administrative requirements of The University along the way and submit their Ph.D. thesis to The University not later than the end of the sixth year.



Integrated M.Tech.- Ph.D (Tech.)
IIA is happy to announce the launch of the Integrated M.Tech.- Ph.D (Tech) course in Astronomical Instrumentation in collaboration with Department of Applied optics and photonics, Calcutta University (CU). The Degree will be awarded by the University of Calcutta. The duration of M.Tech course work will be of 2 years divided into 4 semesters. After successful completion of the M. Tech course a student can opt for registration for Ph.D (Tech) programme at Calcutta University, subjected to a selection procedure and minimum cut-off grade.

Graduate Studies

Programme Description
The Integrated M.Tech- PhD (Tech) Programme will admit bright, highly motivated students with a three years B.Tech. degree (Post BSc Hons) in Optics and Optoelectronics / Radio Physics and Electronics from CU or B.Tech / BE degree in Electrical/ Instrumentation/ Electronics and Communications /Computer Science and Engineering from an institution recognized by AICTE. A candidate with M.Sc degree in Physics / Electronic Science / Applied Mathematics /Applied Physics from a UGC recognized institution is also eligible to apply.

Candidates will be selected through an all-India examination followed by an interview to be held in Bangalore ( the date will be announced soon). Outstation candidates will be paid return train fare in II Sleeper Class or equivalent bus fare by the shortest route on production of original tickets. GATE qualified candidates with 95 percentile and above can apply directly for the personal interview.

Selected students will be fully supported with a fellowship of Rs. 12,000 per month for the first two years. Students will be provided hostel accommodation, medical facilities; tuition fee will be student’s responsibility.

First two semester classes will be held at the Department of Applied Optics and Photonics, Calcutta University. The third and fourth semester comprise of internship at IIA laboratories and projects at field stations respectively. Upon successful completion of two years in the programme the candidates will be awarded a M.Tech in Astronomical instrumentation from Calcutta University. In the third year of the Programme, students who qualify for continuation in the programme leading to the PhD(Tech) degree will begin research work at IIA. The fellowship will be enhanced to research fellows as par the norms of AICTE. The normal duration of the programme will be 6 years, including the minimum 2 years for the Masters' Degree. Ph.D. Program on Fulltime basis:

Eligibility and Selection
The prescribed minimum qualification for admission into Ph.D. program is M.Tech / ME / MS /M.Phil. or equivalent degree, or B. Tech / BE /M.Sc. /M. Sc (Tech) / MA or equivalent degree. Admission to a Ph.D. program shall be open to candidates who passed the prescribed qualifying examination in first class with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 6.5 in the 0 - 10 scale grading system (6.0 in the case of SC/ST candidates), or not less than 60% marks in the aggregate (55% marks in the case of SC/ST candidates).

For a Ph.D. candidate under fulltime on institute fellowship, he/she must be sound academically, and must possess First Class both at B. Tech and M. Tech., from recognized institutes or universities. The GATE or NET qualification is a must for a candidate not having First Class in the qualifying examination.

The candidates selected for admission for Ph.D. under Fulltime basis are eligible to receive institute fellowship as follows. The tenure of a research scholarship is three years only.

(a) Candidates joining with Master's degree in, Engineering / Technology or a degree recognized as equivalent thereto.

Rs.14,000/- per month, for the first two years
Rs.15,000/- per month, in the third year.
A facility of Teaching Assistantship of Rs.5,000/- per month is also available to the suitable candidates.
(b) Candidates joining with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Technology or
Master's degree in Science, Arts or Social Science or M.Com or a degree recognized as equivalent to any of them.

Rs. 12,000/- per month, for the first two years

Residential and Other Requirements:

(a) For the candidates from industry/ R&D organizations/educational institutes of higher learning having R&D facilities, the minimum residential is one semester, which is to be completed at a stretch preferably immediately after joining. During this time the candidate completes the course work requirement.
(b) In case of candidates with very good research experience (may be 10 years or more) in R&D Organizations, with the special permission of the DSC and Approval of the Senate, the residential requirement may be waived completely. Nevertheless, it is mandatory for such candidates also to complete the course work for the prescribed number of credits on self-study style, following all steps like assignments, examinations etc., as prescribed for a regular course at NIT, Warangal.
(c) For the candidates of Ph.D. under part time, one guide from National Institute of Technology, Warangal and one guide from the parent organization are mandatory. Hence, the candidates applying for Ph.D. under part time must identify a suitable guide in his/her organization, take his/her written consent (in the proforma given) and must indicate the same in the application.
(d) The guide at the parent organization must possess Ph.D. qualification or sufficient research experience. If the guide does not have Ph. D qualification, the acceptance of him/her as guide is subject to approval by the institute. In any case, the bio data of the research guide at the parent organization must accompany the written consent given by him.
(e) The candidates applying for Ph.D. under part time must ensure that adequate facilities for doing research are available at his organization.

The National Institute of Technology provides facilities for research, leading to the degree of Master of Science By Research. Eligibility and Selection

The prescribed minimum qualification for admission into M.S. (By Research) program is B.E./B.Tech./ M.Sc./ M.Sc.(Tech)/ M.A. or equivalent degree. The admission to M.S.(By Research) program shall be open to candidates who passed the prescribed minimum qualifying examination in First Class with Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 6.5 in the 0 – 10 scale grading system (6.0 in the case of SC/ST candidates), or not less than 60% marks in the aggregate (55% marks in the case of SC/ST candidates).

Eligible candidates possessing the minimum educational qualifications, and satisfying any additional criteria set by the departments from time to time, will be called for an interview and/or test, by the selection committees of the respective departments.

There will not be any financial assistance offered by the institute.

Program Structure
The M.S. (By Research) program consists of course work and thesis work.

Duration of the Program and Residential Requirement
The minimum period of study and research required at the institute from the date of registration for M.S. (By Research) program to the date of submission of the thesis, shall be 24 months.
The maximum period of the M.S. (By Research) program shall be four years.
The minimum residential requirement is 6 months, during which time, the candidate is required to complete the course work.

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the entrance test for registration to the PhD programme under the streams (1) Full time and (2) Part-time under the faculties of Science, Language and Literature, Humanities, Mass Communication & Journalism, Education, Commerce & Management Studies and Fine Arts of this University.


Eligibility:-
(1) Candidates who have secured 55% and above in their P.G. degree examination (of this University or equivalent degree of any other Indian or Foreign Universities recognized by Calicut University) shall be eligible to apply for the entrance examination for full time registration to PhD in the subject concerned.
(2) Candidates belonging to the SC/ST Communities need only a pass in their qualifying examinations.
(3) The teachers of the affiliated Colleges in this University and University Teaching Departments will be given a relaxation of 5% marks.

Candidates exempted from Entrance Examination
(1) Regular teachers working in the Government/Aided Colleges affiliated to
Universities in Kerala seeking Part-time registration.
(2) Candidates who possess M.Phil degree of this University or any other University recognized as equivalent by this University.
(3) Candidates who have qualified NET/JRF/SRF or any other fellowships awarded by funding agencies like UGC, CSIR, ICAR, ICHR, ICSSR etc.

The above candidates who are exempted from appearing for the entrance Examination can directly apply for the PhD programme in response to this notification. Such candidates must also submit consent letter from the supervising teacher regarding his/her willingness to supervise along with their application.


Candidates seeking Part-time registration should confirm their eligibility for it from the University Web-site. The number of seats available in each Department/Centre under different faculties can also be ascertained from the website. The department council will decide the actual number of vacancies to be filled by this notification. Registration shall be granted from the ranklist prepared on the basis of the marks scored in entrance test and the number of seats available under each supervising teacher in the Department/Research Centre. Those who secure 50% marks and above in the entrance examination are eligible for registration.

Candidates belonging to SC/ST communities, however, need only 35%.


The prescribed application form for entrance examination/Ph.D Programme downloaded from the web-site along with chalan receipt for Rs.500/- (Rs.125/- for SC/ST) towards fee should reach the Head of the concerned Department/research centre on or before 30.10.2008. The Heads of Research Centres other than University Departments should forward the applications received before 04.11.2008 to the Director, College Development Council, University of Calicut.

GUIDELINES FOR PART-TIME RESEARCH


Teachers of Govt./Aided Colleges affiliated to Universities in Kerala, Teachers of University Departments, Higher Secondary Teachers working in Institutions under the territorial jurisdiction of the University of Calicut, candidates appointed as Research Fellows or Research Assistants in Research Projects run in the University Departments/Govt./Aided Colleges/Central/State and other approved Research Institutes and Scientists working in the Research Institutes, Technical experts working in analytical laboratories, members of any statutory professional institutes approved by the Government of India, Permanent employees of Calicut University, Clinical Psychologists working in Govt. Medical Colleges and Govt. hospitals satisfying the eligibility criteria.

In addition to the approved research guides in the University Departments, recognized research guides working in the Research Institutes/affiliated Colleges recognized as research centers by the University shall be eligible to guide research students under part-time research programme. However, such applications shall also be routed through the Head of the concerned Department of the University. The parttime research students working in the University Departments/Research Centres shall attend the Department/Research Centre for at least 60 working days in a year (minimum 3 attendances in a month).

The Supervising Teacher shall forward half yearly progress report and attendance attested by the Head of Department/Institution to the Director, College Development Council.

The University Research Council shall be entrusted with the responsibility of half yearly assessment of the progress of all the registered candidates. The continuation of the registration of the Research Scholar shall be based on the recommendation of the University Research Council on the basis of the norms framed for the purpose.

The Rules and Regulations related to the assessment of progress of research, appearance in the PhD Qualifying examination, procedure for thesis evaluation, conduct of Open defence, viva-voce, etc. shall be the same as that of the candidates under Full-time Research stream.

ELIGIBILITY:
Eligibility for the admission is the pass in the Bachelor's Degree Examination of the University of Kerala or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate (ie. MBA Programme (Full time)
The MBA course curriculum is designed to give students an extensive understanding of the nuances of various management disciplines. Spread over 2 years (4 semesters), the programme specifically aims at imparting the students the state of-the-art knowledge of the concepts and techniques of management, developing the ability to comprehend the environment and acquire analytical decision-making and fostering a novel approach to work.

The institute offers an MBA Evening programme having duration of six semesters. The course is tailor- made for working professionals who would like to add an MBA to their qualification. Classes are scheduled between 5.30pm to 8.30pm on all working days. Eminent academicians and professionals from the industry are involved in the pedagogy. Selection is on the basis of an entrance exam conducted by the University of Kerala followed by group discussion and interview.

Eligibility:
Candidates who have obtained at least 50% for graduation and having work experience of two years after graduation are eligible to apply for the entrance test.

Applications for the entrance test will be invited during September-October every year. Course commences every year in the month of December.


Ph.D. Programme:
The institute offers Ph.D. programmes in the various disciplines of Management. Selection is on the basis of an entrance exam conducted by the University of Kerala followed by an interview with the Doctoral Committee.

Eligibility:
Candidates who have obtained at least 55% for the post graduation are eligible to apply for the entrance test.

Applications for the entrance test will be called of during August-September every year. The Entrance test is conducted on December every year.

Registration:
On clearing the entrance test, a synopsis has to be prepared relating to the subject intended for research work and submitted along with the application form for registration. The Research Guide must also be identified before the submission of the application. Registration is possible for Full-time and Part-time research work.

A monthly stipend of Rs. 3000/- will be paid to Full-time Research Scholars from the date of registration. For registering Part-time, candidates should have at least three years of work experience after post graduation.

Applications are invited from Indian nationals on plain paper in the format given below for the award of about 5 – 7 Israeli Government Scholarship tenable from October 2009 to study at an Israeli University or any Institution of higher education in Israel. These scholarships are for research/specialization for 8 months (One academic year) and would be available for studies in the following subjects:

Terms and conditions of the scholarship will change every year according to the yearly budget.
The scholarship could be partial, or in rare cases full.
Partial scholarship will include health insurance and tuition fees OR
Monthly allowance for one academic year (8 months only). Full scholarship will include tuition fees, a monthly allowance and health insurance.
Accommodation, transportation and travel arrangements to and from Israel are the applicant's responsibility.

Scholarships will be granted only in universities and programs approved by the Ministry.

Scholarships for Ulpan language studies will be granted in the Ulpan chosen by the Ministry only.

5. Submission of application:

v) Official original academic records (or notarized copies) of all relevant studies and test scores, diplomas attesting the completion of an academic degree, including a transcript of the student's records.

Online Submission of Application Form

This Application can also be submitted on-line and the last date and time for submission of online application would be 5.30 PM on 31.10.2008. For on-line submission of application, attested photograph and documents as required above may be submitted after short listing of the applicants and on receipt of such a communication along with the registration no received on line from this Department. Immediately after successful submission of application on line the registration number is displayed on the screen. The on-line application form is a generic form and intending applicants should ignore the columns which are not mentioned in the format above. Any clarification on on-line submission of application may be sought by e-mail at scholarship.edu@nic.in.
Their past experience has shown that sometimes due to network conditions and PC environment at the client’s end applicants are not able to submit online application and it has caused inconveniences to intending applicants. This Department does not take any responsibility in such eventualities. On line applications may be accepted provided hard copy of the application alongwith enclosures (attested copies of certificates, marks-sheets etc.) reach the Ministry by 06-11-2008.

POST GRADUATE PROGRAMME IN MANAGEMENT

ADMISSIONS 2009-2011

ELIGIBILITY
Minimum 50% aggregate marks in a three-year Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) recognised by the Association of Indian Universities/AICTE. Candidates who will complete all requirements for the degree by 15th June 2009 may also apply. If an applicant does not complete all the requirements of his degree by 15th June 2009, or does not obtain 50% aggregate marks in his degree, the offer of admission made to him will stand cancelled. The total number of seats is 120. The qualifying cutoff for each year is determined on the basis of the scores of the applicants to the Institute, in the entrance test in that year. For admission to the post graduate programme in business management 2008-2010, 90.01 was the qualifying percentile cutoff. For admission to the post graduate programme in business management 2009-2011,only those candidates who register for the XLRI Admissions Test (XAT) 2009 of Xavier Labour Relations Institute, Jamshedpur (XLRI) may apply for admission to GIM.


SELECTION:
Applicants are required to take the XLRI Admissions TEst (XAT), which will be held on January 4, 2009.
Register for XAT at www.xlri.edu. Short-listed candidates will be called for further evaluation around February 2009.

*Make cash payment to Coaching Centres mentioned on GIM website.
*Log on to www.gim.ac.in and follow the instructions and fill the online application form. On successfully completing the online application form, you are provided with a Payment Advice Form. Take a printout of this page, which is to be mailed along with the Demand Draft/ Coaching Centre receipt to GIM postal address given below.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE
Candidates seeking admission to GIM are required to observe the following procedure:

Applicants to GIM are required to take the XLRI Admissions Test (XAT), which will be held on 4th January 2009. Register for XAT at http://www.xlri.edu/
Apply online on http://gim.sify.net /
Last date for application is 31st December 2008.

Candidates who have applied for admission to GIM will be shortlisted on the basis of their XAT scores. The shortlisted candidates will be called for face to face evaluation process for final selection in February/March 2009. (Interview centres – Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Panaji)
The final selection will be made tentatively in April 2009 on the basis of XAT scores (50% weightage), the candidate’s past academic performance (10% weightage), performance in face to face evaluation process (30 % weightage) and work experience (10% weightage), if any.
The academic session would begin in last week of June/first week of July 2009.


For further evaluation, the qualifying cut-off XAT score will be lowered by 15 points for candidates of Goan domicile/origin. Documentary evidence of domicile will have to be supplied along with the completed Application Form.

Step 2: To apply to GIM Click GIM Registration Page, enter your XAT ID and password and fill in the online application form. Take a printout of the Payment Advice.

Step 3: Send the print out of the Payment Advice along with Demand Draft/copy of coaching centre receipt(original) .

Instructions to MBA Applicants

1) The applicant should send the filled MBA application form to the below given address:

4) The applicant is requested to send the application form only after receiving their CAT 2008 admit card from IIM because the applicant has to mention his/her CAT Registration number in the MBA application form.
