Symbiosis National Aptitude Test 2010 (SNAP 2010)

Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Test is a common written test for the admission processes of Symbiosis postgraduate institutes. These institutes are either affiliated to SIEC Deemed University or approved by AICTE. SNAP Test is conducted under the aegis of SIEC Deemed University.


It is a mandatory written test for admission into any postgraduate programme at Symbiosis. However, it is only the first step. Each institute has its own selection process and a student aspiring to do higher studies at Symbiosis.


How to Apply to SIBM Pune
Symbiosis International (Deemed University) constitutes of 14 Institutes. Candidates need to apply separately to each institute. Candidates will be then short listed based on their performance in the SNAP Test. Every institute has their separate cut off for short listing the students. Short listed candidates will have to go through a further round of selection process. Final short listing will be based on the performance in the SNAP Test as well as performance in the selection process. Find below the step by step procedure which will guide the candidates in applying to SIBM, Pune.

Step 1: Apply for SNAP

Visit www.snaptest.org
Register for SNAP and make the payment of the requisite fee.
On completion of registration for SNAP, you will receive a unique SNAP ID and a password. This SNAP ID and password has to be remembered carefully
Appearing for SNAP is mandatory for being considered for short listing for the admission process by any institute

Step 2: Apply for SIBM Pune
After applying for SNAP, you need to apply separately for SIBM Pune by paying an application fee of Rs 1000/-.
Visit www.sibm.edu. Register online for SIBM Pune using your SNAP ID & Password and make the necessary payment.
On completion of registration, you will receive a confirmatory mail. This indicates the confirmation of your registration
Registering for SIBM Pune separately is mandatory without which no candidate will be considered for short listing by SIBM Pune.
Registrations for SIBM Pune will begin shortly.

Step 3: Appear for SNAP Test

The Indian Institutes of Management will conduct Common Admission Test (CAT) during a 20-day testing window between Wednesday, 27 October 2010 and Wednesday, 24 November 2010. CAT is conducted by IIMs as a prerequisite for admission to various management programmes of IIMs. These programmes are:

EligibilityThe candidate must hold a Bachelor's Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA)categories], awarded by any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the bachelor's degree would be calculated based on the practice followed by the university/institution from where the candidate has obtained the degree. In case the candidates are awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the conversion of grades/CGPA to percentage of marks would be based on the procedure certified by the university/ institution from where they have obtained the bachelor's degree. In case the university/ institution does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by dividing the candidate's CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result with 100.

Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. IIMs may verify eligibility at various stages of the selection process, the details of which are provided at Selection Process of IIMs.

Prospective candidates must maintain a valid and unique email account throughout the selection process.

How To ApplyThe CAT 2010 Vouchers can be obtained from the selected branches of Axis Bank during the period from Monday, 30 August 2010 to Monday 27 September 2010 for Rs. 1400/- (Rs. 700/- for SC/ST candidates). Please note that a candidate needs to buy only one CAT 2010 Voucher irrespective of the number of institutes he/she is applying to.

Note that the Voucher must be bought only in the name of the candidate as it appears in the school leaving certificate. If the name has been changed due to events such as marriage, the candidate must show the relevant document such as a marriage certificate and submit a photocopy at the time of the test, interview and at the time of joining a programme. SC and ST candidates must show a copy of their SC/ST Certificates at the time of obtaining the CAT 2010 Voucher from the Axis Bank branches.

Voucher once sold cannot be refunded under any circumstance including but not limited to loss of voucher, inability to read voucher number due to mishandling of the voucher by candidate, candidate being ineligible for taking CAT, CAT not being a pre-requisite for a programme, and rejection of candidate registration due to incomplete and/or wrong information.

If the voucher is lost, voucher number is not readable due to mishandling of the voucher by candidate, and/or candidate thinks he/she has made mistake(s) in filling-out information during the online registration, then the candidate can purchase a new voucher and re-register online.

On purchasing the CAT 2010 Voucher, prospective candidates must log on to the website www.catiim.in to register for CAT 2010.

The registration window opens on Monday, 30 August 2010 and will close on Thursday, 30 September 2010.

For IIT Delhi:

(minimum 4 years after 10+2) or Master's degree in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Applications, Electronic Science, Environmental Science, Operations Research, Computational/ Information Science, Agriculture, Commerce, Economics are eligible to apply. There is a relaxation of 5% in marks or equivalent in CGPA for SC/ST candidates.

For IIT Kanpur:
A Bachelor's degree in any branch of engineering or technology (AICTE approved) from a University/ Institute with at least 60% of marks or grade point average of 6.0 on a scale of 10.0 in aggregate based on average over whole programme. AMIE or similar distance learning qualification is not eligible for this programme. Candidates with Architecture degree can apply provided they have taken Mathematics at 10+2 level. SC/ST candidates who qualify JMET and pass the basic qualifying degree as above are eligible to apply irrespective of marks / CPI in the qualifying degree examination.

For IIT Kharagpur For MBA:
A candidate who has either secured or is likely to secure a first class Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology or a first class Master's degree in Science (with Mathematics or Statistics at Bachelor's level) or a first class Master's degree in Economics or Commerce (with Mathematics or Statistics at Bachelor's level) is eligible for admission. The School follows Government of India norms regarding reservation of seats for qualified SC/ ST/ OBC candidates and persons with disability.

For IIT Kharagpur in Master of Human Resource Management
First class bachelor's in any branch of engineering/ Technology or First class in master's degree in Science, Commerce, or Humanities and Social Sciences. The Department follows the Government of India norms for reservation of seats for SC/ST and OBC category students, and persons with disability. Selection is based on application rating, JMET performance, group discussion and personal interview. Appropriate weightage is given for work experience.

For IIT Madras:
Candidates with B.E./ B.Tech. or equivalent with first class or equivalent from a recognized Institution or University OR a Master's degree or equivalent in any discipline with first class or equivalent from a recognized Institution or University are eligible to apply. The Government of India norms will apply for eligibility and admission of applicants from the reserved categories.

For IIT Roorkee:
Candidates with Bachelor's degree in any discipline of Engineering/ Technology with first class or its equivalent or a Master's degree with first class or equivalent in any discipline from a recognized Institute/ University with at least 60% marks for General & OBC category candidates and 55% marks for SC/ST category candidates in aggregate or CGPA of 6.00 on a 10 point scale for General & OBC category candidates and 5.50 on a 10 point scale for SC/ST category candidates are eligible to apply.

JMET 2011 Application Form has to be submitted ONLINE only. The application fee is Rs.350/- for SC/ ST/ PD candidates and Rs. 750/- for all other candidates. ONLINE submission of application can be done by accessing the JMET 2011 website of any of the IITs or IISc by following the steps given below:
Before you start applying online, make sure that you have digital images of your photo and signature in .jpg format that are less than 150 Kb in size. During the application process, you need to upload both the photo and the signature through the JMET 2011 website. The size of the photo and signature should be as specified below:

Photo image size = width x height = 4 cm x 5 cm (resolution = 200 dpi)

Signature image size = width x height = 5 cm x 1 cm (resolution = 200 dpi)

If the face is difficult to identify in your photo, the application form will be rejected.
Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PD categories should have a PDF file of their respective category certificate which needs to be uploaded during the ONLINE application process. Applicants belonging to OBC(non-creamy layer) do not have to upload the category certificate since their application fee is same as the general category students.

Access the JMET 2011 website and click ONLINE application submission link to register as a user. If already registered, then sign-in at the website and complete the ONLINE application form.

After filling up the ONLINE application form including the uploading of your photo, signature and category certificate (if applicable), you may proceed to make the fee payment. The application fee is Rs.350/- for SC/ST/PD candidates and Rs. 750/- for all other candidates. The application fee is non-refundable.

There are two modes of fee payment. You may choose any of the following options:

The Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET) will be conducted on 12th December 2010 (from 10:00 hrs to 13:00 hrs) in 39 cities across the country for admission to the (2 Year Full Time) Post-graduate Degree Programmes in Management offered by the IITs, currently IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee.

Application forms can be obtained by post from the Store Keeper (Exams), Mahatma Gandhi University, Priyadarshini Hills P.O, Kottayam-686560, by sending a request along with a self-addressed 18 x 30 cm, envelope affixing postage stamp worth Rs.20/-, a payin-slip/D.D. /Friends Janasevana Kendra receipt (Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam and Painavu) for the prescribed fee remitted (Rs.50/- and Rs.25/- respectively).

IUCAA – NCRA Admission Test (INAT – 2010) is being conducted  on December 22, 2010 to select candidates for research scholarship (to join Ph.D. Programme) either at Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune, or National Centre for Radio Astrophysics of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (NCRA – TIFR), Pune.

Applications are invited from students, who expect to complete their M.Sc. (in Physics/Electronics/Astronomy/Applied Mathematics) or B.E./B.Tech./M.E./M.Tech. degree (any branch) by August 2011. In addition, talented final year B.Sc., 1st year M.Sc. (in Physics/ Electronics/Astronomy/Applied Mathematics) and 2nd/3rd year B.E./B.Tech. (any branch) students may also apply to be PRE-SELECTED for research scholarship (to do Ph.D.) at either of the following institutes:
(a) IUCAA, Pune, for Astronomy and Astrophysics, and Physics,
(b) NCRA – TIFR, Pune, for Astronomy and Astrophysics.

Candidates have to fill an online Application Form available at website link: http://www.iucaa.ernet.in:8080/iucaa/jsp/INAT.html and take two print-outs of the Confidential Assessment Form received as attachment to the acknowledgement email. NCCS invites applications from candidates who are bonafide Indian citizens and having consistently good academic record. Candidates should have strong motivation to pursue research in modern biology leading to a Ph.D degree. The broader areas of research and the available projects with NCCS faculty could be found at their respective web pages. The list of available projects for the current session will be provided to the candidates at the time of interview.

Candidates who satisfy the following criteria only need apply:

Should have an M.Sc. degree in any area of Life Sciences

Qualified in the CSIR/UGC/ICMR/DBT examination for Junior Research Fellowship and Fellowship should be valid as on the date of joining. (Candidates in the "Projects list of ICMR and category 'B' of DBT examination" need not apply).

Reservation will be as per the Government of India guidelines.

Terms and conditions of the fellowship will be as directed by the agency awarding the fellowship.

Age relaxation will be 5 years in case of SC/ST/Women/PH and 3 years in case of OBC candidates.

Traveling allowance will be paid to SC/ST candidates as per rules. For other candidates traveling allowance is not admissible. Candidates have to make their own arrangements for stay at Pune.
