School of Medical Science and Technology (SMST), Indian Institute of Technology-Kharagpur, has invited applications from MBBS graduates for admission to 3 years post-graduate programme - Masters in Medical Science and Technology (MMST) commencing in Academic Year 2011.

The eligibility criterion for admission to MMST students is MBBS Degree (recognised by Medical Council of India) with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate and having studied mathematics at +2 level (even as additional subject) or from any recognized Open University. Seats are reserved for SC/ST/OBC(Non creamy layer) candidates and persons with disability as per Govt. of India rules.

MMST 2011 application is to be submitted only by an ONLINE process (internet based) by accessing the website http://gate/iitkgp.ac.in/mmst.
The candidate should first pay the Application Fee of Rs. 1000/- for General Category and Rs. 500/- for SC/ST/PD Category by obtaining a Demand Draft drawn in favour of IIT Kharagpur on any nationalised bank payable at Kharagpur, West Bengal.

The draft details are required while filling up the ONLINE application form after successful submission of data. The printed form, with candidate's signature and photograph pasted at appropriate place, and the Demand Draft must be sent by speed post so as to reach by 15 March 2011 to The Chairman, GATE, IIT Kharagpur, Kharagpur - 721302.

3. MTech in Biotechnology
MTech (Biotechnology) Programme at (1) Anna University, Chennai; (2) Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi, Kerala; & (3) West Bengal University of Technology, Kolkata

Eligibility: Minimum 60% marks or equivalent grade in any one: BTech / BE in Chemical Engineering/Biochemical Engineering, Industrial Biotechnology, Leather Technology, Chemistry/Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, BPharma, Chemical Technology, OR MSc in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics, Biophysics, Microbial Genetics and Bioinformatics. (For Anna University: Candidates with BTech / BE in Electrochemistry, Bioengineering and MSc in Chemistry & Physics are also eligible. For West Bengal University of Technology: Candidates with MSc in Bioengineering are also eligible. For Cochin University of Science and Technology: Candidates with MSc in Marine Biotechnology, Marine Biology/Aquatic Biology & Fisheries, Environmental Biotechnology are also eligible.).
Only those candidates who have passed the qualifying examinations in 2009 or thereafter including those who are appearing in 2011 are eligible to apply. In other words, those who have passed the qualifying examination PRIOR to 2009, are not eligible to apply.

Reservation/Concession:
a) Reservation: 15%, 7½% and 3% of seats shall be reserved for SC, ST and Physically Challenged (Handicapped) (PH) candidates respectively. All the SC/ST and PH candidates who have passed the qualifying examination are eligible to apply irrespective of their percentage of marks in the qualifying degree examination. OBC reservation, wherever applicable, will be implemented as per the policy of each participating University.
b) Concession for Kashmiri Migrants: 10% marks will be added to the overall marks scored by a Kashmiri Migrant candidate in the entrance examination. After adding 10% marks, in case he/she is covered in the cut-off point in the merit list, he/she will be offered admission strictly in accordance with his/her inter-se merit along with other candidates subject to his/her meeting the minimum prescribed eligibility requirements and also subject to his/her producing valid registration documents issued by the notified authorities certifying the candidate's Kashmiri Migrant status.
 
How To Apply: Tuition Fee/ Scholarship:
Fee shall be charged from the admitted candidates as per the fee structure of the concerned University. Candidates selected for admission are generally eligible for scholarship at the rates prescribed by the Dept. of Biotechnology.

Procedure for getting the form:
By Post: To receive the Application Form by post candidates should send their request only to the Section Officer (Admissions), Room No. 28, Administrative Block, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi-110067, along with a Bank Draft (valid for six months) of Rs 260/-(for one set of Application Form and Prospectus). The Bank Draft should be drawn in favour of "Jawaharlal Nehru University" payable at New Delhi. The request should accompany a self-addressed unstamped envelope of the size of 30x25 cms. indicating clearly on the top of the self addressed envelope the programme for which Application Form is required, ie, "MSc Biotechnology" OR "MSc (Agri) / MVSc Biotechnology" OR "MTech Biotechnology".

Eligibility Criteria for appearing to MAH-MCA-CET 2011-2012:

The candidate should fulfill the following eligibility criteria:
Passed with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of candidates of backward class categories belonging to Maharashtra State only) in any Bachelor's degree awarded by any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 of minimum three years duration in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India and having studied Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at 10 + 2 level or higher level examination.
OR
Appeared for the final year examination of any Bachelor's degree to be awarded by any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 of minimum three years duration in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India and having studied Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at 10 + 2 level or higher level examination. Such candidates will be considered for provisional admission subject to passing the Degree examination with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of candidates of backward class categories belonging to Maharashtra State only).


Note: The candidates who have passed Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA), Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS), Bachelor of Science (Computer/Information Technology) degree courses are not required to fulfill the requirement of having studied Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects at 10+2 level or higher level examination.

How To Apply:
Availability of Information Brochure along with Application Kit:

The Director of Technical Education, Maharashtra State, Mumbai continues the system of online receipt of application form for MCA for the year 2011-12.
Information brochure along with the Application Kit for the aspiring candidates will be available at the select post offices mentioned below only during working hours of the respective post offices from 07/02/2011 to 18/02/2011 (excluding Public Holidays) against the payment of the application form processing fees.
It is mandatory to procure the information brochure and go through it carefully. The CET that will be conducted in pursuance of this advertisement is subject to the rules and regulations set out in this information brochure. The further admission process, especially in respect of Private Unaided Institutes will be in terms of the clarification read with aforesaid rules and regulations.
Submission of the application form in response to this notification will amount to accepting the afore said rules & regulations unequivocally by the applicant and upon such submission it will be presumed that the applicant agrees and accepts these rules & regulations as legal, valid and correct. It will not be open for any applicant, once having submitted the application form to question the legality, validity and correctness of these rules & regulations.
The Centralized Admission Process will consist of first 2 rounds of allotment and the third (i.e. last) round of counseling. Candidates are instructed to carefully read the Annexure-I of the Information Brochure to understand the eligibility criteria for participating in each round.
Application form processing fees as stated below is to be paid at the identified post offices, in cash only. No other mode of payment shall be permitted.

J & K Migrant candidates who wish to apply against J & K Migrant quota and also against OMS quota are required to pay total fee of Rs. 1500/- (Two separate receipts of Rs.750/- each). Such candidates will be required to register as both J&K and OMS candidate and one Hall ticket will be generated after confirmation of online application form.
This fee is non-refundable and non-transferable under any circumstances.

Aspiring candidates will be able to submit and confirm the Online Application form through the www.dte.org.in/mca through any computer connected to Internet.
For the submission and confirmation of the online Application Form the candidates are required to use the Application ID and Password provided in the Application Kit. Candidates are also required to upload his/her photo with signature as per the instructions given in the Application Kit. Candidates are advised to preserve the Application Kit carefully and not to disclose the Application ID & Password to others to avoid impersonation.
In order to take the printout of the Online submitted Application form and the printout of the Hall Ticket for the CET, it is mandatory for all the candidates to confirm the Online submitted Application form and such confirmed applications only will be considered valid for further processing.
Applications sent by Post/Courier etc. to ARCs/DTE office will be rejected and no communication in this regard will be done with the candidates.
It should be noted that no documents are required to be submitted at this stage. Candidates are advised to keep the necessary documents ready at the time of Document verification stage scheduled in the month of May/June 2011.

(ii) For BA (Hons): (2nd Year): First year of Bachelor's degree or an examination recognised as equivalent thereto with at least 45% marks under 10+2+3 pattern of education with adequate proficiency in the concerned language.

III. School of Social Sciences

(b) For Centre of Social Medicine & Community Health: Master's degree in social sciences or other disciplines allied to public health with 50% marks. (c) For all other Centres: Master's degree in the subject concerned with at least 50% marks or Master's degree in allied subjects or Humanities with at least 55% marks or Master's degree in Natural Sciences with at least 60% marks.

(B) MPh/PhD (Master of Public Health)
Eligibility: MBBS Degree with atleast 50% marks and atleast one year's work experience after internship; or MSc Degree in Nursing with atleast 50% marks and atleast one year's experience in Community Health Nursing. .

(C) MA in: Economics, Geography, History, Political Science and Sociology
Eligibility: (a) For M.A. in History, Political Science, Geography and Sociology: Bachelor's degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 45% marks. (b) For M.A. in Economics: Bachelor's degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 50% marks, and Mathematics either at 10+2 level or at Bachelor's level, either as subsidiary or as honours.

IV. School of Life Sciences
(A) MPhil / PhD
in areas of interdisciplinary research in molecular Biology, genetic engineering, plant biotechnology, genetics, developmental biology, cell biology, immunology, neurobiology, microbiology, radiation and cancer biology, bio-physics and structural biology.
Eligibility: MSc or equivalent degree, with at least 55% marks or equivalent grades, in Biological Sciences, Bioinformatics or Physical Sciences, as well as to those with MBBS or MTech or MSc (Agriculture) or MSc (Veterinary Sciences) degree with 55% marks. Candidates having the M. Sc. or equivalent degree in allied subjects of Life Sciences, including Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Botany, Genetics, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Physiology, Zoology, or in Chemistry or Physics with 55% marks are also eligible.

(B) MSc in Life Sciences: An integrated interdisciplinary programme in Modern Biology.
Eligibility: Bachelor's (B. Sc. or B Tech or equivalent) in Biological, Physical or Agricultural Sciences under the 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 55% marks.

V. School of Environmental Sciences
(A) MPhil / PhD
in environmental sciences including interdisciplinary areas of biology (Ecology, biotechnology, biophysics, bioremediation), chemistry (Air, Water, Soil pollution), geology and physics.
Eligibility: MSc degree or equivalent in any branch of basic or applied science or MBBS or BTech / BE with minimum 55% marks.

(B) MSc in Environmental Sciences: an interdisciplinary course with environmental orientation, drawn from relevant areas of biological, chemical, earth and physical sciences.
Eligibility: Bachelor's degree in any branch of basic or applied science under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 55% marks.

VI. School of Computer & Systems Sciences
The school offers academic programmes leading to the degrees in computer science and technology
(A) MPhil / PhD & MTech / PhD
Eligibility: Master's degree in Computer Science or Mathematics or Statistics or Operational Research or in any branch of Science or Bachelor's degree in any branch of Engineering or Master of Computer Applications (MCA) with at least 55% marks.

(B) MCA (Master of Computer Applications): 3 year programme open to candidates with adequate competence in mathematics.
Eligibility: Bachelor's degree in any discipline with adequate competence in Mathematics under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 55% marks.

VII. School of Physical Sciences
(A) Pre-PhD / PhD
in physical sciences/Chemical sciences/mathematical sciences. the emphasis is on topics of Chemical Physics, Computational Physics, Disordered Systems, Granular Materials, Mathematical Physics, Non-equilibrium Statistical Mechanics, Nonlinear Dynamics, Quantum Chaos, Quantum Magnetism and Strongly Correlated Systems, Quantum Optics, Statistical Nuclear Physics. Experimental areas include Complex Fluids, Materials Science, Superconductivity, Magnetism, Nonlinear Optics, Semiconductors, Polymers and Nanoparticle Physics.
Eligibility: (a) For Physical Sciences, MSc degree in Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics, with at least 55% marks. Candidates having majored in Physics or Chemistry should have had Mathematics at least up to the BSc level. Exceptions can be made in case of applicants with BTech (Electronics/Electrical) degrees provided they successfully qualify the entrance examination. (b) For Chemical Sciences, MSc degree in Chemistry or Physics, with at least 55% marks. Candidates majoring in Chemistry should have specialization in Organic/Inorganic/Physical Chemistry/Chemical Physics at the Master's level. (c) For Mathematical Sciences, MSc degree in Mathematics, with at least 55% marks.

(B) MSc in Physics
Eligibility: Bachelor's degree (with Physics as one of the subjects) under the 10+2+3 pattern of education with 55% marks in the aggregate (or in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics combined), or in Physics Honours.

VIII. School of Arts & Aesthetics
(A) MPhil / PhD:
The School offers MPhil / PhD programme in three different streams - Visual Studies, Theatre and Performance Studies and Cinema Studies. (Admission to the MPhil / PhD is through a separate entrance examination for each discipline followed by a viva-voce.)
Eligibility: Master's degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks.

(b) MA in Arts & Aesthetics: The School offers M.A. programme with cross disciplinary study of the Visual, Cinematic and Performing Arts.

Eligibility: Bachelor's degree under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 50% marks.

IX. School of COMPUTATIONAL AND INTEGRATIVE SCIENCES
(A) Pre-PhD / PhD
in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics
ELIGIBILITY: (a) Master's Degree in any branch of Sciences such as Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science / MCA.
(b) MBBS or BHMS or equivalent degree as recognized by Government Council such as MCI.
(c) BTech or BE or equivalent degree in any branch of Engineering, BPharm degree or equivalent. Common to all three categories is a minimum requirement of 55% marks.


(B) MTech in computational and systems biology

Eligibility: (a) Master's Degree in any branch of Sciences including Biological, Chemical, Mathematical, Physical, Statistics, Computer Sciences/MCA. (b) MBBS or BHMS or equivalent degree as recognized by Government Council such as MCI. (c) BTech or BE or equivalent degree in any branch of Engineering, BPharm degree or equivalent. Common to all three categories is a minimum requirement of 55% marks and Mathematics till class XII is compulsory.

X. SCHOOL OF Biotechnology
Pre-PhD / PhD
in areas of Gene Transfer and Expression in Eukaryotic system, Tranion Control and Gene Regulation, Protein Engineering, Molecular Biology of Infectious Diseases, Protein folding and Stability, Optimization of Recombinant Protein Production, Structural Biology & Molecular Bioinformatics, and Biochemical Engineering, Molecular virology, cancer biology, molecular cell biology.
Eligibility: Master's Degree in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or any branch of Physical or Biological or Engineering Sciences with atleast 55% marks.

XI. Centre for Sanskrit Studies
(A) MPhil / PHD in Sanskrit

ELIGIBILITY: Master's degree in Sanskrit or in an allied subject (with Sanskrit up to B.A. level) with at least 55% marks.

(B) MA in Sanskrit
Eligibility: Bachelor's Degree in Sanskrit or in any other subject under 10+2+3 pattern of education with at least 45% marks.

XII. Centre for Molecular Medicine
Pre-PhD / PhD in Areas of Metobolic Disorders, Infectious and non-infectious Diseases, Diagnostics and Molecular Endocrinology
Eligibility: Master's degree or equivalent of recognized University/Institution in any branch of biological sciences/MBBS/ BVSc / BPharm or equivalent with at least 55% marks.

XIII. Centre for the Study of Law and Governance
MPHIL / PHD IN LAW AND GOVERNANCE
ELIGIBILITY: Master's degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Economics, Sociology, History, Philosophy or Law with 55% marks; or 60% in any branch of natural science. Eligibility in Law may be read as: LLB (Three Year) degree after Bachelor's degree with at least 55% marks or an LLB (Five Year) degree with at least 55% marks in the aggregate or an LLM degree with at least 50% marks in the aggregate.
 

DIRECT ADMISSIONS TO PHD PROGRAMME
The University admits a limited number of candidates directly to Ph.D. programme either on the basis of viva-voce or written examination and viva-voce both as may be decided by the University both in Monsoon and Winter Semesters in all Schools/Centres. In addition direct admission to Ph.D. is also offered in Centre for Comparative Politics and Political Theory, Adult Education, Women's Studies and Study of Discrimination and Exclusion. Candidates are required to check the availability of seats in each Centre/School before applying for admission in Winter Semester. Candidates are advised to refer to the admission announcement being notified separately.

ADMISSION OF JRF HOLDERS to MPHIL / PHD AND PRE-PHD /

PhD PROGRAMME IN SCIENCE SCHOOLS
The University admits a limited number of candidates to MPhil / PhD and Pre-PhD / PhD programmes either on the basis of viva-voce or written examination and viva-voce both as may be decided by the University who have qualified a National Test entitling them to a JRF in Schools of Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Computer & Systems Sciences, Computational and Integrative Sciences and Biotechnology.
Eligibility: Only those candidates who fulfill the minimum eligibility requirements as prescribed for admission of candidates to MPhil / PhD and Pre-PhD programmes through Entrance Examination under category A above in above Science Schools/Centres and have qualified a National Test entitling them to a JRF are eligible to apply.

PART-TIME PROGRAMMES
The University will hold Entrance Examination (in Delhi Centre only) for admission to Certificate of Proficiency and Advanced Diploma in Mass Media in Urdu one-year Part-Time Programmes of Study in the School of Language, Literature & Culture Studies. Since these are Part-Time programmes, these are intended for candidates residing in Delhi NCR only. Admission to Diploma of Proficiency and Advanced Diploma of Proficiency will be made on basis of the past academic record of the candidate which will be assessed in accordance with the criteria laid down by the University for selection.

PROGRAMMES OF STUDY:
1) Advanced Diploma in Mass Media in Urdu, 2) Advanced Diploma of Proficiency in Pushto, 3) Diploma of Proficiency in Italian, Pushto and Bahasa Indonesia, 4) Certificate of Proficiency in Mongolian, Pustho, Bahasa Indonesia and Urdu.

Eligibility:
1. Advanced Diploma in Mass Media in Urdu: A Bachelor's Degree under 10 + 2 + 3 pattern of education with at least 45% marks in aggregate with Urdu as one of the subjects at High School or Intermediate or B.A. Level. 2. Advanced Diploma of Proficiency: Senior School Certificate, (10+2) or equivalent with at least 45% marks in aggregate and Diploma of Proficiency in language concerned. 3. Diploma of Proficiency: Senior School Certificate (10+2) or equivalent with at least 45% marks in aggregate and Certificate of Proficiency in the language concerned. 4. Certificate of Proficiency: Senior School Certificate (10+2) or equivalent with at least 45% marks in aggregate.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Foreign Nationals: All foreign nationals present in India are required to appear in the Entrance Examination subject to their fulfilling minimum eligibility requirements as prescribed for Indian students as indicated under Category 'A' above. However, in the event of their selection, they will be considered for admission subject to equivalence of their degrees as per eligibility requirements.

Reservation of seats: 27% seats are reserved for OBC candidates (non creamy layer). 15% and 7.5% of seats are reserved for SC/ST candidates respectively in all programmes of study. 3% seats are reserved for Physically Challenged (Handicapped) candidates (with a minimum of 40% disability). All SC, ST and Physically Challenged (Handicapped) candidates who have passed and/or are appearing in the qualifying examination are eligible to appear in the entrance examination irrespective of their percentage of marks.

Besides, all candidates who have passed qualifying examination prescribed for admission to the concerned programme of study from the identified backward districts, will be eligible for deprivation points. All Kashmiri migrants and wards/widows of certain categories of Defence Personnel will be eligible for deprivation points subject to their submitting a documentary evidence of their status (For details, refer to Chapter V of Prospectus). All female candidates are also eligible for deprivation points. Only those candidates will be eligible for deprivation points as stated above who seek admission through Entrance Examination.

 

Please note that: There is a different Application Form for each Category ie Category 'A' and Category 'D' (Admission through Entrance Examination), Category 'B' (Direct Admission to PhD programmes) and Category 'C' (Admission of JRF holders). Candidates should therefore clearly indicate on the self addressed envelope, the Category for which the Application Form is required by them.

The University does not offer correspondence courses.
While the University, on its part, shall ensure timely despatch of Application Forms soon after receipt of the request from intending candidates, it will, however, not accept responsibility for any postal delay or irregularity or loss in postal transit.

Applicant should have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (H.S.C.) examination/ Indian School Certificate (ISC) examination/Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examination or any other examination equivalent (in which case, equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian University (AIU), New Delhi has to be obtained) to 10+2 HSC examination of any recognized Board/University from any school/college situated in India after 12 years of study and should have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and must have obtained at least 50 % marks (40 % marks, for SC/ST applicants) in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in the qualifying examination (10+2/HSC or an equivalent examination). Those who have appeared or are likely to appear for qualifying examination (HSC etc.), and whose results have not been declared at the time of AICET-11 shall also be considered eligible to appear for AICET-11, provided he/she has offered the above mentioned subjects at the said qualifying examination(s). Applicant should also secure at least 50 percent marks (100 out of 200 marks) at the AICET-11.

The fee for Application form is Rs.500/- and that for the Test is 1500/-. Application Form can be obtained from the University office on payment of Rs. 500/- by cash or by way of D.D. It can also be obtained by sending a requisition letter with Name of course opted for, detailed correspondence address with contact number and e-mail address, along with a Demand Draft of Rs. 600/-, drawn in favour of 'Registrar, Dr. D. The last date for receipt of application in the University without late fee is April 29, 2011 and with the late fee of Rs.500/- is 14th May, 2011. The Admit Card for AICET - 11 will be despatched by Courier or by Post to the candidate under certificate of posting.
 
The admit card will indicate the seat number, the examination centre (with its address) allotted to the candidate.

In case the admit card is not received until a week before the test, candidate shall contact the Controller of Examinations of the University or the Centre-in-Charge at the respective test centers, on the day of the AICET-11, for collecting a duplicate admit card. In such a situation, the candidate should bring two copies of his/her photograph, taken from the same negative as the photograph affixed to the application form, with him / her and proof of submission / mailing of application form / Xerox copy of demand draft / receipt of payment of cash. In case, no proof is submitted, duplicate admit card may not be issued.
 
The test consists of one question paper of 200 marks. The question paper consists of two hundred objective-type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), 50 each on Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. In case more than one candidate has obtained equal marks at the AICET-11, a candidate with higher marks in Biology at the AICET-11 shall be preferred. If the tie till persists, then, the candidate with higher marks in Chemistry at the AICET-11 shall be preferred. If the tie still persists, then, the candidate with higher percentage of aggregate marks at the HSC (or equivalent) examination shall be preferred. If the tie still persists, then, candidate with higher percentage of aggregate marks at SSC examination shall be preferred.

Names of only those candidates who obtain 50 % or more marks (100 or more out of 200) in AICET-11 will be included in the merit list which will be displayed on the notice board and at www.dypatiluniversity.org. Only first 300 candidates in the merit list will be called for counseling and on-the-spot admission session.

The admission sessions will be conducted at the office of the Vidyapeeth, as per the schedule. Failure to report for admission on the scheduled date and time shall result in instantaneous cancellation of the claim of the candidate to the seat. It shall be the candidate's responsibility to ascertain the result of AICET -11.

A waiting list for admission to the course shall be prepared and notified on the Vidyapeeth notice board. The candidate, who desires to have his/her name included in the waiting list, shall submit the application for inclusion. If no such application, in writing, is submitted during the interview, the candidate's name shall not be included in the waiting list.

The seat which becomes vacant during the admission session shall be kept vacant. The waiting list of the course shall become operative from 1st August onwards and the candidate(s) in the waiting list shall be offered seats as per availability of seat(s). The waiting list shall be operative till all the vacant seat(s) are filled in or till 30th September (cut-off date), whichever is earlier.

Annual fee structure for candidates admitted to M.B.B.S, under General Category is Rs.5,23,000/- per annum. For  Management seats, it is Rs.6,43,000/- per annum. For BDS, these are Rs.2,62,000/- per annum and Rs. 4,00,000/- per annum

University Eligibility & Registration Fee (One-time Fee): 10% of the Annual Fee, payable for the first year only, shall be paid by the student separately at the time of filling in the Eligibility Application as University Eligibility & Registration Fee. A scholarship of Rs 2500/- per month would be available to some meritorious students. Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology in association with Christ Nagar Educational Institutions has invited applications from 8th standard students for the Third Rajiv Gandhi Student Research Fellowship Programme - 2011.

The scheme named "Young Research Talent Search in Life Science" is essentially meant for school children to initiate and execute projects incorporating their independent thinking and creativity. A total of 10 research teams (30 students) will be selected for fellowship. Selected students are eligible to get a fellowship of Rs.4000/month in addition to the expenses required for project execution. The programme Is open to 8th standard students (2010-2011) of Kerala.

In this connection a selection test will be conducted at Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi on 20" February, 2011 to select the deserving students for the programme. The selection test of one hour duration will be of objective type to test the student's aptitude in biological sciences. The best 30 students selected based on state merit will be allowed to work for two weeks in an appropriate research lab of RGCB from 9th May to 20th May 2011. Upon completion of the research project, a one day presentation will be conducted at RGCB to provide an opportunity to present the salient features of their project in a poster session on 25th May, 2011. All awardees will be honored with Fellowship and citation in an official ceremony conducted at Trivandrum.

Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR), Mumbai, a Deemed University and an advanced research institute established by Reserve Bank of India, has invited applications for admission to the following Post Graduate and Research Programmes for 2011-12.

M.Sc. Economics: For admission to the two-year programme commencing in August 2011, applicant should hold B.A/B.Sc in Economics/B.Com/B.Stat/B.Sc (Physics or Mathematics)/B.Tech/B.E with at least a second division for Economics discipline and first division for other disciplines and must have studied Mathematics at the Higher Secondary level or should be able to demonstrate equivalent Mathematical ability.

Scholarship: Some need-based scholarships are available to Masters Students as per Institute's norms. The second year Masters students are eligible to express interest to work as Graduate Assistants and depending upon the availability and norms, might be awarded such assistantships.

M.Phil/Ph.D (Development Studies): For the two years M.Phil Programme and 4 year Ph.D Programme both of which are interdisciplinary programmes commencing August 2011, applicant should hold M.A/M.Sc in Economics/ M.Stat/M.Sc (Physics or Mathematics or Environmental Science or Operations Research)/M.B.A/M.Tech/M.E/ B.Tech/B.E with at least 55% aggregate marks for Economics discipline and 60% aggregate marks for other disciplines. The applicant must have studied Mathematics at the Higher Secondary level or should be able to demonstrate equivalent Mathematical ability.

Stipend: M.Phil/Ph.D students will receive a monthly stipend of Rs.12,000/- in the first two years. Those students, who fulfill the terms and conditions for Ph.D. registration, would receive a monthly stipend of Rs.18,000/- after Ph. D. registration in the third year.

Selection Procedure: Selection will be based on a written test and an interview. The written test will cover General Aptitude, Analytical ability and Mathematical skills. The written test will be held on April 24, 2011 (Sunday) at Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Chandigarh, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, and Thiruvananthapuram. The test venue will be notified in the call letter. Based on the performance in the written test, short listed candidates will be called for an interview at IGIDR around the last week of June 2011. Second class return rail fare by the shortest route from the place of residence will be paid to the candidates interviewed.

External Ph.D. Programme (Development Studies): Applications have also been invited for the interdisciplinary External Ph.D. Programme in Development Studies with emphasis on all areas of Economics including Energy and Environment Policy, commencing August 2011. Applicants with a minimum of three years of work experience from research and academic institutions, industry and government can apply. The External Ph.D. programme involves course work. There will be no scholarships or tuition fee waivers.

Applicant should hold M.A/M.Sc in Economics/M.Stat/M.Sc in Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Environmental Science or Operations Research/ M.B.A/M.Tech/M.E/ B.Tech/B.E or equivalent with at least 55% aggregate marks for Economics discipline and 60% aggregate marks for other disciplines. The applicant must have studied Mathematics at the Higher Secondary level or should be able to demonstrate equivalent Mathematical ability. Applicant should apply with the `No Objection Certificate' along with leave authorization on the official letterhead of the Organization duly signed by the authorized official of the Organization. Applicants should be preferably below 45 years of age which will be relaxed only in case of exceptional candidates.
