The Department of Science & Technology, Government of India has invited applications from first rank holders in Post Graduate Degrees in Basic and Natural Sciences or Undergraduate Degree in Engineering Sciences/Medical Sciences/ Pharmaceutical Sciences/ Agricultural Sciences/ Veterinary Sciences of any recognized Indian University or Institute/ Statutory Body in India for award of  'INSPIRE Fellowship', and appropriate research grants for a period of five years for doing full-time research leading to Ph.D.

Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) is a Programme launched by the Government of India to strengthen the National Science and Technology base. It is being implemented by the Department of Science and Technology (DST). The INSPIRE Programme includes three components namely Scheme for Early Attraction of Talents for Science (SEATS), Scholarships for Higher Education (SHE) and Assured Opportunity for Research Careers (AORC).

Applications are now invited from the eligible candidate for `INSPIRE Fellowships' under Assured Opportunity for Research Careers (AORC) component of INSPIRE Program. The Scheme AORC is focused on attraction of students to pursue Doctoral Degree Programme in Basic and Applied Sciences including Engineering, Medicine, Agriculture, Veterinary, Pharmacy etc. after either Masters' Degree in Science or Bachelor/Masters' Degree in Engineering/Applied Sciences.

Eligibility: Applicant should be Indian National and a 1st Rank holder in a Post-Graduate (PG) level examination in Basic/Natural Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Medical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Agricultural Sciences or Veterinary Sciences at the University and academic Institutions and should be eligible for admission to pursue research, leading to Ph.D., in any Indian University/ National Institute/ National Laboratory in India. 1st Rank holders in College examination are not eligible.

First Rank holders at Under-Graduate level examination in Engineering Sciences and other Professional courses conducted by a University/ Institution in India are also eligible to apply for directly pursuing Doctoral Degree.

Those who have acquired their required qualifications necessary for admission to the PhD program on and after April 2007 are only eligible. However, those already enjoying Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) or higher position need not apply for this. Those who have qualified Joint CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test for fellowship/ GATE can also apply.

Fellowship: The Program extends financial support in the form of a Fellowship equivalent to NET/GATE Fellowship (Junior Research Fellowship/Senior Research Fellowship) and grants for research to the candidates.

Duration: Those selected will receive fellowship for a maximum period of five years, subject to the completion of the PhD Degree whichever is earlier. Continuation of the fellowship for selected candidates will be based on satisfactory performance, certified by the institution as per stipulated GOI guidelines for such fellowship. Selection will be purely on the basis of merit.

Aligarh Muslim University has invited applications for admission to the Engineering and Medical Courses at institutions under the University.B.Tech/B Arch courses are offered at Zakir Husain College of Engineering & Technology under the Faculty of Engineering & Technology of Aligarh Muslim University.

For admission to the B.Tech Courses in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Petrochemical Engineering, applicant should have passed the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination of Aligarh Muslim University or an equivalent examination with at least 50% marks in aggregate in English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or the Diploma in Engineering of Aligarh Muslim University with at least 50% marks in aggregate.

For Admission to Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch) course of 10 semester duration, applicant should have passed the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination of Aligarh Muslim University or an equivalent examination with at least 50% marks in aggregate in English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or should hold Diploma in Engineering of Aligarh Muslim University with at least 50% marks in aggregate. Selection will be through Admission Test, which will have two papers of equal weightage.

Paper I of three hour duration will be from 10 am on 14.5.2011 and that of Paper II, also of three hours duration, from 3 pm on 14.5.2011. Paper I will be an objective type paper of 150 marks comprising 150 questions from Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.

Paper II will be the Architecture Aptitude Test which will contain some descriptive questions and Test of Drawing. Candidates should bring their own drawing and sketching material like pencils, eraser, sharpener, pen, ink, Pencil Colours, Water Colours etc. Drawing Sheets and/or Answer Booklet shall be provided to the candidates.

Admission Test Fee for B Tech is Rs.600/- for Online Application and Rs.700/- for Offline Application. Online Application Fee for B Arch Admission Test is Rs.700/- and Offline application fee is Rs.800/-.

Candidates applying for admission to B.Tech can also apply for admission to B.Arch on the same Application Form after paying additional Admission Test fee of Rs.100/-. Such candidates shall also have to appear in Paper II.

Selection will be through a Combined Admission Test of 3 hours duration to be held from 10 am on 29.05.2011 at Aligarh (U.P), Lucknow (U.P), Bhopal (M.P), Hyderabad (A.P), Kolkata (W.B), Kozhikode (Kerala) and Srinagar (J & K).

Admission test will have one objective type paper of 200 marks comprising 200 questions from Chemistry, Physics, Botany and Zoology. Applicant should secure at least 50% marks in the Admission Test to become eligible for selection.

Each correct answer will get one mark. There is no negative marking.

Applicant should complete 17 years of age on or before the 31st December 2011. Academic Eligibility for MBBS will be as prescribed by the Medical Council of India and that for BDS, will be as prescribed by the Dental Council of India. Those seeking admission to MBBS course, should have scored minimum 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in the qualifying examination (XIIth /PUC II/ 10+2/ HSC /equivalent examination). Applicant should also have scored 50% marks in English language in the qualifying exam. Those who are likely to appear or who have appeared for qualifying examination (PUC II/10+2/HSC or equivalent), but whose results have not been declared can also appear for KLEU-AIET-2011, provided they have offered the above mentioned subjects at the said examination. Those who have passed the qualifying examination (XIIth /PUCII/10+2/HSC/ B.Sc  Degree/First year of 3 year Degree course as specified by Medical Council of India to be considered as eligibility for appearing in entrance test) earlier than 2009, are not eligible for applying to KLEU-AIET-2011, for seeking admission to MBBS course.

The application form for admission to KLEU-AIET-2011 is common for MBBS/BDS courses. No separate form is prescribed for any particular course or college. Application has to be submitted online at http://www.kleuniversity.edu.in/aiet-eleven/ugeleven/ugelevenform.asp.

Anyone who is a graduate in any field with interest in fisheries and aquaculture would be eligible to apply. In-service candidates (junior, middle and senior level staff) from government departments of fisheries, development personnel from voluntary organisations, budding entrepreneurs, farmers and fishers, staff from processing industry, Self Help Groups, Fisher Co-operative Societies would all benefit from this programme. The candidate should have completed 21 years of age on the date of commencement of course. However, there is no maximum age limit to apply.

Course Fee:
For Indian Applicants: The course fees for the PG Diploma Programmes is Rs. 40,000/- and for the certificate courses, is Rs. 15,000/- per module.
For Foreign Applicants: The course fees for PG Diploma Programmes is US $ 4000/- and for certificate courses is US $ 1500/- per module.
The course fee will cover the tuition fee, course materials, library and internet fee, hostel fee, alumni fee and day long study tours. The course fee has to be paid at the time of joining the course in the form of demand draft drawn in favour of ICAR Unit, CIFE Mumbai and shall be payable at Mumbai.

REGULATIONS:

(1) GENERAL ELIGIBILITY:

Candidate should have obtained a Master's Degree in the discipline in which he / she wants to register for Ph.D. programme with a minimum of 55% marks (5% relaxation for SC/ST Candidates) in the qualifying examinations under (10+2+3+2) system. Any Chartered Accountant / Cost Accountant / Company Secretary with a minimum period of three years of experience after obtaining their professional qualification is eligible for Ph.D. registration in Commerce discipline.

(2) ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR RESEARCH SUPERVISOR:

Every Scholar registered for the part time Ph.D. programme shall work under the continuous supervision of a recognized Research Supervisor. Teachers / Scientists / Researchers working in Universities / Affiliated Colleges / Scientists/Researchers working in various regional and National Institutions / Laboratories / Organizations / Industrial Establishments (which are recognized as Research Centers by this University), located within or outside Bharathiar University jurisdiction possessing a Ph.D. degree and having completed a minimum of 3 years after Ph.D. are eligible to be included in the pool of research supervisors.

A person who has retired from service but below the age of 65 on the date of application is also eligible to apply for recognition as a research supervisor.

(3) REGISTRATION:

Along with the application (application fees100/- and annual fee Rs.20,000/-) a demand draft for Rs.20,100/- taken in a nationalized or a scheduled bank shall be enclosed. The annual fee for Chartered Accountants / Cost Accountant / Company Secretary is Rs.30,000/- Along with application they should pay Rs.30,100/- For foreign candidates (by residing or by employment) the annual fee will be US $4000 (four thousand dollars) per annum.

NIMCET (NIT MCA Common Entrance Test), the National level Entrance Test conducted by the National Institutes of Technology for admission to their MCA Programme at the NITs at Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirappally and Warrangal for 2011-12, , will be held from 10 am to 12 noon on 15th May, 2011 (Sunday).

NIMCET will have an objective type question paper containing 120 multiple choice questions from Mathematics (45 Questions), Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning (40 questions), Computer Awareness (10 questions) and General English (25 Questions). Each question will have four options. Each correct answer will get four marks while each incorrect answer would result in loss of 1 mark.

Those who have done Bridge Course in Mathematics are also eligible to apply.

Those appearing for the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply. They have to furnish proof of fulfilling the eligibility criterion at the time of counseling/Admission but not later than 31st August, 2011 failing which their admission will be cancelled by the concerned NIT.

NIMCET 2011 Application is applicable for the Entrance Examination as well as admission to the MCA Programme at all the 11 participating NITs. Applicants need not apply separately to each NIT for admission.

Applicant has to first create a user login Id and password which could be used as and when required. They should not create multiple Ids’. After submission of the details asked, applicants are required to take a print out of the online filled application form. Applicants will be considered for admission to all the NITs based on their NIMCET Score and options exercised at the time of counseling/admission process. Details of the counseling process will be notified at NIMCET website http://www.nimcet2011nitb.in in due course.

NIMCET 2011 will have 3 rounds of counseling. Candidate will get a week’s time for filling his/her choices online, before first round of counseling. After each round of allotment candidate will have to report in person to any one of the participating NIT’s for remote reporting/reporting in person. The allotted seats of candidates may be upgraded after each round of counseling if higher choice preference (if filled) is available at the time of allotment process. Once seat has been allotted in any participating NIT, candidate will have to take admission in that NIT after third round of counseling.

Once the candidate has taken admission in one of the participating NITs, transfer from one NIT to another NIT is not permitted in any circumstances. After third round of counseling there will not be any upgradation of allotted seat. The general eligibility for NIMCET2011 entrance examination is same for all the participating NITs. The fee structure may differ from one participating institute to another. The details can be obtained from website of the respective institutes.

Counseling will be held in June 2011. Choice filling can be done at http://www.nimcet2011nitb.in/ from 7th June 2011 to 5 pm on 13th June 2011. First round of allotment will be made on 14th June, 2011. Facility for remote reporting/reporting in person after the first allotment will be available from 15th June to 20th June, 2011. Second round of allotment/up-gradation will be on 22nd June, 2011.

Remote reporting/Reporting after the second round would be possible from 23rd June to 27th June, 2011. Third and final round of up-gradation will be on 28th June, 2011. Remote reporting/Reporting after the third round would be possible from 29th June to 30th June, 2011. Spot admission for the remaining seats of all Participating Institutes will be held at MANIT Bhopal on 1st July, 2011.

Eligible candidates can buy the application form on payment of Rs. 500/- at the major Post Office and Indian Bank Branches, throughout India. Filled in applications should be sent to "Sathyabama University, Jeppiaar Nagar, Rajiv Gandhi Salai, Chennai 600119", so as to reach on or before 30th March, 2011.

Students who apply by purchasing the application (at the major Post Office and Indian Bank Branches) can get their hall ticket by post. In case of postal delay, they can even download their Entrance Examination Hall ticket from University website, after 15th March, 2011.
 
2. ONLINE APPLICATION :

Student can also use Online application available at www.sathyabamauniversity.ac.in. Students opting for online application should fill in the application, and should verify all the details entered. After the verification of the details, payment of Rs. 500/- should be made either by using Net Banking Facility/Credit Cards(VISA only)/Debit Cards(VISA only) or by challan payment at any one of the Indian Bank branches. Students using Online application can download their Entrance Examination Hall tickets at the University website, after 15th March, 2011.

It is another season of Entrance Examinations as far as those completing the Plus Two course are concerned. It is the culmination of a process for which candidates have been preparing for two or more years. The major Entrance Examinations in the country are the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) attended by almost 10 lakh students and the All India Pre- Medical/Pre- Dental Entrance Examination (AIPMT) attended by about 1.5 laks students. There are Entrances conducted by the State Governments, by Institutions like the IITs, AIIMS, by Central Universities as well as Deemed Universities. The number of Entrance Examinations has gone to such an extent that more than one entrance are scheduled for a single day in some cases.

Here the information related to the major Entrance Examination conducted in the country during April, May and June are compiled in the order in which it is scheduled. Some of the Entrances expected during this period for which the Notifications have not come yet are also included in the list. Candidates are requested to look at this only for guidance. The Examination pattern whereever not mentioned can be different from that of the previous years. The State level Entrance Examinations except that of Kerala have not been included in this list.

NIFT UG Entrance on 20th February, 2011 (Sunday): National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, will hold the written Entrance Examination for admission to various Under Graduate Programmes offered at Bengaluru, Kolkata, Bhopal, Mumbai , Chennai,  New Delhi, Gandhinagar, Patna, Hyderabad, RaeBareli, Kangra, Shillong and Kannur centres, on 20th February, 2011. The Programmes include B.Des in Accessory Design), Fashion Communication, Fashion Design, Knitwear Design, Leather Design and Textile Design & B.F.Tech (Apparel Production). The Admission Test for B.Des (Fashion Design/Leather Design/Accessory Design/Textile Design/Knitwear Design/Fashion Communication) will have a General Ability Test (GAT) and Creative Ability Test (CAT). MU-OET 2011 from April 1, 2011: The Manipal University Online Entrance Test 2011 (MU-OET 2011), a computer based online entrance test for admission to the Under Graduate Medical/ Engineering/ Pharmacy Courses at Manipal University will be held between 1.4.2011 and 22.5.2011. Ernakulam is the lone centre in Kerala. Candidates can select the Test Centre and Test Schedule of their choice through the Online Test Booking System. For MBBS, BDS, BPharm & PharmD (Group I), the test will be of two and a half hours duration and will consist of 240 multiple choice objective type questions with approximately 60 questions from Physics, 60 from Chemistry, 80 from Biology and 40 from English & General Aptitude.

For BE, BPharm & PharmD (Group II), the test will be of two and a half hours duration consisting of 240 multiple choice objective type questions with approximately 60 questions from Physics, 60 questions from Chemistry, 80 questions from Mathematics and 40 questions from English & General Aptitude.

Those desirous of applying for BPharm/PharmD courses can opt for the course under Group I or Group II or both. Those Candidates interested in writing the Entrance Test with Biology should opt for Group I (MBBS, BDS, BPharm & PharmD)  and those interested in writing the Entrance Test with Mathematics as a subject should opt for Group II (BE/BPharm/PharmD). Those applying under both Groups, I (MBBS/BDS/BPharm/PharmD) and Group II (BE/BPharm/PharmD), must submit 2 separate application forms.

Candidates must have basic familiarity with use of keyboard and mouse operations to take the test. The candidate sits in front of the computer and the questions are presented on the monitor. The questions appearing on the screen will be in English. All questions will be of the Multiple Choice Question (MCQ type), each consisting of a stem which may be in the form of a question or an incomplete statement and four responses labeled A, B, C and D. The candidate has to select the most appropriate answer by clicking on the button next to the answer. Candidates can navigate freely through the questions. Each question carries one mark. Each correct answer will be awarded one mark. There is no negative mark for wrong answers. The final score will be displayed on the test screen immediately after the completion of the test. All rough work should be done on the paper/s supplied in the Test Centre.

The last date for receipt of the completed application at Manipal University with necessary documents along with the DD/Challan for the applicable amount drawn on 'Manipal University' payable at Manipal or Udupi, for 2011 admissions is 15.03.2011.

AIPMT Preliminary on April 3, 2011(Sunday): The first stage of the All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination, 2011 for admission to the 15% All India Quota seats for MBBS/BDS courses 2011, in the Medical/Dental Colleges of India, the Preliminary Examination, will be held from 10 am to 1 pm on April 3, 2011 (Sunday).

It would consist of one paper of 3 hours duration containing 200 objective type questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology). Each question will be followed by four options with single correct answer which is to be marked on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen only. For each correct response the candidate will get 4 marks will be awarded. For each incorrect response one mark will be deducted from the total score. Examination Centres for the Preliminary include Trivandrum and Cochin.

CUSAT CAT on April 2, 2011 (Saturday): The Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi  for all B.Tech Programmes and the 5 year Integrated M.Sc Photonics, will be held from 9.30 am to 12.45 pm on 2nd April 2011 (Saturday). Test in Mathematics will be held from 9.30 am to 11 am and that for Physics and Chemistry form 11.15 am to 12.45 pm. Each correct answer will get 3 marks. JEE on 10th April, 2011 (Sunday): The Joint Entrance Examination 2011 (JEE 2011) for admission to the Under Graduate Programmes at the Indian Institute of Technology at Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jodhpur, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Mandi, Mumbai, Patna, Ropar and Roorkee and at Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IT-BHU) Varanasi and Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad, will be held on 10th April, 2011 (Sunday), at over 130 Centres across India and at Dubai in UAE.

These institutions offer courses leading to Bachelor's Degree in a number of Engineering, Technological and Scientific disciplines, M.Sc. Integrated courses in Pure and Applied Sciences and M.Tech Integrated courses in a few disciplines. Some IITs offer Dual-Degree M.Tech. programmes, wherein both B.Tech and M.Tech Degrees are awarded.

There will be two Papers for the Examination each of three hours duration. Paper 1 will be held from 9 am to 12 noon and Paper 2 will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm. Both the question papers will have 3 separate sections on Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. Questions will be of the objective type, designed to test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates. Answers are to be recorded on a separate, specially designed, machine-gradable Optical Response Sheet (ORS) by darkening the bubble(s) against correct answer(s) using hard black (HB) pencils only. In some sections, incorrect answers may be awarded negative marks.

ISAT on April, 16, 2011 (Saturday): The IIST Admission Test 2011 (ISAT 2011) for admissions to the Undergraduate Programmes (B.Tech) at Indian Institute of Space Science Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, will be held from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm on 16th April, 2011 (Saturday). Calicut and Thiruvananthapuram are the Test centres in Kerala

ISAT question paper will consists of only objective type questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The candidate is expected to choose the correct answer option and record his/her response by darkening the appropriate bubble using hard black (HB) pencils only. VITEEE on April 16th, 2011 (Saturday): The VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEE) for admission to the B Tech Programmes of Vellore Institute of Technology Campuses at Vellore and Chennai will be held from 2.30 am to 5 p.m on 16th April 2011 (Saturday). Test Centres include Kochi, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur.

VITEEE will have one question paper having 4 parts with Physics in Part I, Chemistry in Part II, Mathematics in Part III and Biology in Part IV, with 40 objective type questions from each part, each question carrying one mark. Each question is followed by 4 alternative answers. The candidate will have to choose the correct answer and shade against the appropriate choice in the OMR response sheet provided, as per the instructions. There is no negative mark for wrong answers. Questions will be mostly from the State Board of Higher Secondary Education and the CBSE syllabus only. The syllabus for the Entrance Examination is given in APPENDIX-V of the Information Brochure. Sample Questions are also given in Appendix VI of the Information Brochure.
A candidate has to attempt any three parts only. If any candidate attempts all the four parts, only the first three parts will be valued. The answered Part IV will not be considered for valuation.

Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics candidates have to attempt Parts I, II & III while Physics, Chemistry and Biology candidates, Parts I, II & IV. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology candidates can attempt either Parts I, II, III or Parts I, II, IV as per their choice. Those attempting Parts I, II & III are eligible for all the 13 programmes offered. Those attempting Parts I, II & IV are eligible for Bioinformatics, Bio-Medical Engineering and Biotechnology programmes only. Application Forms will be issued till 26th February, 2011. Filled application should reach the VIT office in the self-addressed envelope provided, filling the Test City Code and ticking the checklist on the envelope, by Registered/Speed Post, positively by February 28, 2011.

JEE for Hospitality & Hotel Administration Programme on 16th April 2011 (Saturday): The Joint Entrance Examination 2011 (JEE-2011) conducted by the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology, for admission to the 3-Year B.Sc. Hospitality & Hotel Administration Program at Institutes of Hotel Management (IHMs) Affiliated to it, will be held from 10 am to 1 pm on 16th April 2011 (Saturday) at different centres including Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.   

JEE 2011 will have one question paper with 200 objective type questions from Numerical Ability and Scientific Aptitude (30 questions), Reasoning and Logical Deduction (30), General Knowledge & Current Affairs (30), English Language (80), Aptitude for Service Sector (30). Each correct answer will get one mark. Half a mark will be deducted for each wrong answer marked. There is no negative marking for Aptitude for Service Sector. AIEEA-UG-2011 on 16.4.2011 (Saturday): The 16th All India Entrance Examination for Admission (AIEEA-UG-2011) for admission to the 15% seats (tentative) in Bachelor Degree Programmes and for the award of National Talent Scholarships in Agriculture & Allied Science Subjects (other than Veterinary Science) in Agricultural Universities and 100% seats in Dairy Technology at NDRI Karnal, for Academic Session 2011–12, conducted by the Indian Council of  Agricultural Research (ICAR) will be held from 10 am to 12.30 pm on 16.4.2011 (Saturday). The only centre in Kerala is Cochin.

The Programmes available for admission through AIEEA-UG-2011 include the Bachelor Degree programmes of 4 years duration in (i) Agriculture (ii) Horticulture (iii) Forestry (iv) Fisheries (v) Home Science (vi) Sericulture (vii) Agricultural Engineering (viii) Dairy Technology (ix) Food Science (x) Agricultural Marketing, Banking & Cooperation and (xi) Biotechnology.

National Talent Scholarships (NTS) are awarded based on the AIEEA-UG examination to all those candidates who take admission outside their state of domicile. Further, not more than 40% candidates from any one state are admitted in any Agricultural University/subject.

The Entrance Examination will be conducted in two subject streams with Stream-A comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Agriculture/Biology and Stream-B comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Questions for Physics and Chemistry will be common for both streams. Paper for 'Stream–A' will carry questions on Biology and Agriculture out of which the candidate has to attempt/opt/choose only one subject, either Biology or Agriculture. 'Stream–B' paper will have questions from Mathematics. Candidate has to exercise option for one Stream at the time of submitting the application. The maximum marks for the paper is 720. Each correctly answered question will earn four marks. For each incorrect answer one mark will be deducted from the total score. MGIMS Wardha Medical Entrance on 17th April 2011 (Sunday): Entrance Examination for admission to the MBBS course at Kasturba Health Society, Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, P.O.Sevagram, Wardha,  Maharashtra-442102, for the academic year 2011-12 will be held on 17th April 2011 at Nagpur, Delhi, Hyderabad Mumbai, Varanasi & Guwahati.

The Entrance Examination will have two papers. Paper I, to be held from 9 am to 12 noon on 17.4.2011, will have a common question paper in Physics, Chemistry and Biology, consisting of 180 multiple choice, single response type questions, with 60 questions from each subject. Candidates will have to attempt all the 180 questions in the common answer sheet. Each question will have four answers. Candidate will have to shade the circle corresponding to the correct answer from among the four circles given. Each correct answer will fetch one mark. There will not be any negative marking for wrong answers.

Paper II, to be held from 2 pm to 5 pm on 17.4.2011, will be on 'Gandhian Thought' and will carry 60 marks. Questions will be of the essay type or/and short answer question type. The paper can be answered in English or Hindi in one 32 page answer sheet to be provided. No additional supplementary sheets will be provided.

Merit will be determined by the aggregate marks obtained in the two papers. Candidates have to score 40 % marks (24 marks) in Paper II to be eligible to be considered in merit. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/VJ/NT/OBC Including SBC have to score a minimum of 40% marks (72 marks), those belonging to Physically handicapped, 45% (81 marks) and all others, 50% marks (90 marks) in Paper I (Physics, Chemistry and Biology together) of the Entrance Examination to be eligible to be considered in merit.

A candidate has to score a minimum of 10 marks in each of Paper I and Paper II to be eligible to be considered for ranking. For SC/ST applicants, there is no minimum mark stipulated to qualify in the Entrance Examinations.

Kerala Medical Entrance on 20th April, 2011: The Medical Entrance Examination (For admission to Medical, Agriculture and Veterinary courses) conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations Kerala, will be held on 20th April, 2011. Paper-I, Chemistry & Physics will be held from 10 am to 12.30 noon (IST) on 20.04.2011 (Wednesday) and Paper-II: Biology will be held from 2 pm to 4.30 pm on 20.04.2011 (Wednesday) itself.

The Entrance examination will be objective type with Multiple Choice Questions and based on single response. Against each question, five suggested answers would be given, from which the candidate will have to select and mark the alphabet (A,B,C,D or E) corresponding to the 'most appropriate response' in the OMR Answer Sheet.

AIEEE on 1st May, 2011 (Sunday): The Tenth All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) for admission to the BE/B.Tech & B.Arch/B.Planning courses in various institutions, including the National Institutes of Technology, IIITs, Deemed Universities, Technical Institutions and other Govt. funded Institutions will be held on 1st May, 2011. Ernakulam, Kozhikode and Trivandrum are Examination Centres in Kerala.

AIEEE will consist of 2 papers. Paper 1 - Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics to be held from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm on 1.5.2011, will have objective type questions with equal weightage to Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics. Paper 2 to be held from 2 pm to 5 pm on 1.5.2011, will consist of Mathematics in Part I with objective type questions, Aptitude Test in Part II with objective type questions and Drawing Test under Part III having questions to test Drawing Aptitude. Those who wish to be considered for B.E/B.Tech courses only will have to appear for Paper 1 only while those desirous of joining B. Arch/ B.Planning only, will have to appear for Paper 2. Those desirous of being considered for B.E/B.Tech as well as B. Arch/B.Planning should appear for both the papers. Objective type questions will have four options having single correct answer. For each incorrect response, one fourth (1/4) of the total marks allotted to the question would be deducted.

Examination will also be held online for a maximum of 5000 candidates in a city for BE/B.tech only, on first-come-first-serve basis. Trivandrum is the only centre in Kerala for this. The pattern of question paper & time duration of online examination and offline examination would remain the same. Last date for submitting applications for AIEEE 2011 was 20.01.2011.

AFMC MBBS Entrance on May 1st (Sunday): The competitive written examination for admission to the MBBS course at Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, will be held on 1st May, 2011. Cochin and Thiruvananthapuram are also centres for the Examination in Kerala.

The written examination will be of 2 hours duration having one paper comprising of 200 objective type of questions from Biology (Zoology and Botany) (50 marks), Chemistry (50 marks), Physics (50 marks), Intelligence, Logic and Reasoning (25 marks) and English Language & Comprehension (25 marks). Each correct answer will fetch one mark while for each wrong answer 0.25 marks will be deducted.

Applications should reach the Officer in Charge Admissions, Dean Office, AFMC, Pune-411 040 under registered AD /Speed Post, by 5 pm on 7th February, 2011.

Candidates admitted to AFMC for MBBS course have compulsory liability to serve as Commissioned Officers in the Armed Forces Medical Services. The offer of the type of commission will depend upon the vacancies available and shall be determined on merit-cum-option at the final MBBS examination. IPU CET for MBBS Stage I on May 7, 2011 (Saturday): Stage I of the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, for admission to the MBBS Course at Vardhaman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital (140 seats available of which 109 seats will be filled based on this CET of which 72 seats are earmarked for children from Delhi Region and 37 seats would be filled on All India basis) and Army College of Medical Sciences (100 seats to be filled by the wards/children of 'eligible' Army personnel) for the session 2011-12, will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm on 7.5.2011 (Saturday). In 2010, the test centres included Bangalore, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jaipur, Jallandhar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Nagpur and Noida. CET usually has question paper in English medium with 200 objective type multiple choice questions, 50 each from Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. Each correct answer will be awarded 3 marks while 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer. Those qualifying in Stage I will have the eligibility to appear for the Stage II examination.

HSEE-2011 on 8th May, 2011 (Sunday): The Humanities and Social Sciences Examination 2011 (HSEE 2011) for admission to the Five year Integrated Master's Programme, leading to Master of Arts (M.A.) Degree in Development Studies and English Studies, for 2011-12, at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, will be held between 10 am and 1 pm 8th May, 2011 (Sunday), at various centres including Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.

The HSEE-2011 will be of three hours duration having two parts. Part I will be objective type multiple choice question paper for 2½ hours administered through computers.  It covers (i) English and Comprehension Skill (25% weightage) (ii) Analytical and Quantitative Ability (25% weightage) (iii) General Knowledge (50% weightage) covering the areas of Indian Economics (since Independence), Indian Society, Contemporary World Affairs (post-World War II) and (iv) Environment and Ecology. Part II is an examination on Essay writing for ½ an hour, which is to be written on regular answer paper to be distributed to the candidates at the end of Part I. Part II asks for writing an essay on some general topic like current affairs and general knowledge.

BITSAT from 11th May, 2011: Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Admission Test (AT), 2011 (BITSAT-2011),  a  Computer Based Online Test for Admission to Integrated First Degree programmes of BITS, Pilani, at Pilani Campus, Goa Campus, and Hyderabad Campus for 2011-12 will be held from 11th May, 2011 to 10th June 2011.  Trivandrum is also an examination centre for BITSAT.
BITSAT, offered over a period of time permits the candidate to choose the Center, the day and time of his/her convenience to take the test. When taking the test, the candidate sits in front of a computer which presents the questions on the computer monitor. The candidate has to answer the questions using the computer itself, using Keyboard or Mouse. Each computer is connected to a server, which prepares the question set and delivers it to the candidate on the computer.

BITSAT-2011 will be of 3 hour duration, without any break. The test will have 150 questions in four parts namely Physics (Part I-40 questions), Chemistry (Part II-40 questions), English Proficiency (15 questions) and Logical Reasoning (10 Questions)(Part III) and Mathematics (Part IV-45 questions). All questions will be objective type (multiple choice questions). Each question will have four answers of which only one will be correct. Each correct answer will fetch 3 marks, while each incorrect answer will result in a loss of mark (-1 mark). Computer will not allow the candidate to choose more than one option as correct answer. Candidates can skip a question. There is no time limit for individual parts of the test. Candidate can go back and change any of his/her answers among the 150 questions. If there is time left, after a candidate answers all the 150 questions, without skipping any question, the candidate will have an option of attempting 12 extra questions, four each from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. However, once the candidate opts for extra questions, he/she cannot go back for correction of any of the 150 questions answered earlier.

Students can register their names for BITSAT-2011 by applying in the prescribed application form online at http://www.bitsadmission.com. After filling the application form online, applicant should take a print out of the filled form. The completed application form along with the prescribed fees should reach 'Admissions Officer, BITS, Pilani-333 031', by 5 pm on 31st January 2011. Candidates can reserve Test dates between 18th February and 10th March 2011.

In addition to applying and appearing for BITSAT-2011, candidates who are interested in admission, have to apply for admission to BITS giving details of their 12th marks and preferences to different Degree Programmes offered. The prescribed application form for admission, the detailed application procedure and the final list of Degree programmes offered will be available at the BITS website, by 20th May 2011. AIPVT 2011 on May 14, 2011 (Saturday): The All India Pre Veterinary Test (AIPVT) 2011, conducted by the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) for admission to the 15% seats to be filled on Merit in each Government Veterinary College in India to the 1st year B.V.Sc. & A.H course for academic session 2011-2012, will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm on 14th May, 2011 (Saturday). Thiruvananthapuram is the lone examination centre in Kerala.

AIPVT will be of 3 hours duration and will have one paper consisting of 200 objective type (multiple choice and reason-assertion type) questions from Physics (60 questions), Chemistry (60 questions) and Biology (Botany and Zoology-80 questions). For each correct answer three marks will be awarded. One mark shall be deducted for each incorrect answer. AIPMT Final on May 15, 2011 (Sunday): The Final Examination the All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination, 2011 for admission to the 15% All India Quota seats for MBBS/BDS courses 2011, in the Medical/Dental Colleges of India, for those who qualify in the Preliminary Examination to be held on 3rd April, 2011, will be held from 10 am to 1 pm on May 15, 2011 (Sunday).

It would consist of one paper of 3 hours duration with 120 objective type questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology). Each question will have four options with single correct answer, to be marked on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen only. For each correct response the candidate will get 4 marks will be awarded. For each incorrect response one mark will be deducted from the total score. In Kerala, Cochin is the only centre for the final Examination

Applicants have to get a minimum of 50% marks in the entrance examination. SC/ST/OBC applicants need only 40% marks while persons with locomotory disability of lower limbs, the minimum marks would be 45% for General-PH and 40% for SCPH/ST-PH/OBC-PH.

DUMET on May 22, 2011 (Sunday): The Delhi University Medical-Dental Entrance Test (DUMET) 2011 for admission to the MBBS course at Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC) (Only female candidates are admitted to LHMC), Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) and BDS Course at Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences (MAIDS), will be held on 22nd May, 2011 (Sunday), at Delhi. NEST-2011 on May 29th, 2011 (Sunday):  The National Entrance Screening Test-2011 (NEST-2011), the Entrance Test for Admission to the 5-year integrated M.Sc. Programme in Basic Sciences at National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai -Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences, (UM-DAE CBS) Mumbai, for the Academic session 2011-12 will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm on May 29, 2011 (Sunday).  Calicut and Kochi are also examination centres for NEST.

The Question paper of NEST 2011, to be in English medium only, will have five sections. The first section, which is compulsory for all candidates, will include general questions. AIIMS Entrance for MBBS on June 1, 2011 (Wednesday): The All India Entrance Examination for admission to MBBS Course at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi will be held on June 1, 2011 (Wednesday). The detailed Notification is yet to be released. In 2010, the Entrance Examination had one paper consisting of 200 objective type (multiple choice and reason-assertion type) with 60 questions each from Physics, Chemistry and Biology and 20 from General Knowledge. Each correct response had a score of 1 mark and each incorrect response, a score of - 1/3 (minus-one-third). Those belonging to General category should get 50%marks, those in the OBC category, 45% marks and those belonging to SC/ST at least 40% minimum marks in the MBBS Entrance Examination to, qualify. There are 37 seats for General Category. Tuition Fee was Rs.1350/- in 2010.

PMT Main of BHU on June 12, 2011 (Sunday): The PMT-2011 Main for admission to the MBBS course at Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaran Hindu University, will be held from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm on 12th June, 2011 (Sunday) at BHU Campus, Varanasi only. Only those candidates, who qualify in the PMT 2011 Screening Test to be held on 8th May, 2011 are eligible to appear for the PMT Main 2011. Section A will have 100 objective type questions of the best response type with 25 questions each from the four subjects. UG-AWT- of CMC, Ludhiana likely in May 2011: The Under Graduate Admission Written Test (UG-AWT) is conducted by Christian Medical College Ludhiana Society, for admission to MBBS, BDS, B.Sc. Nursing and Bachelor of Physiotherapy courses at Christian Medical College, Ludhiana. Cochin is also a centre. Examination in 2010 was held from 2 pm to 4.30 pm, on 23rd May 2010.  Candidates were to report to the allotted Centre by 1.30 pm. NATA for B Arch likely from March 2011: The National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) is a test conducted for those desirous of taking admission to the First year of Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) course in India and is designed to measure the aptitude of a person in Architecture. The test measures the drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity and critical thinking ability that have been acquired over a long period of time and that are related to Architecture. NATA is offered at designated Test Centers located at Colleges/Schools of Architecture in India. Appointments are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. NATA usually consists of an objective type online test and a drawing test. Bachelor of Fisheries Science (Nautical Science) Programme at CIFNET likely in June 2011: Central Institute of Fisheries Nautical & Engineering Training, Fine Arts Avenue, Kochi-16 conducts the 4 year Bachelor of Fisheries Science (Nautical Science) Programme affiliated to the Cochin University of Science & Technology and approved by the Directorate General of Shipping. There are 20 seats under General Quota and 1 each under NRI and Foreign National quota, Eligibility is 10+2 with minimum 50% marks in English, 50% marks in Mathematics and aggregate of 50% marks in other Science subjects. SC/ST applicants need only a pass in the qualifying examination with these subjects as specified here. Selection will be based on the performance in the Entrance Test, Academic merit i9n 10+2 and interview.

Entrance Test for 2010 was held on 6th June 2010 at CIFNET Kochi. The Common Entrance Test usually has objective type questions from Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English Language. For each correct answer, 1 mark is awarded while for each incorrect answer, 0.25 marks is deducted.

Applicant should be medically fit. On completion of the Degree with 50% aggregate, candidates becomes eligible for entry as Nautical Deck Cadets without Pre Sea Training and will be eligible to appear for Second Mate Foreign Going after completing sea time requirement as per STCW Code.

MBBS Entrance Examination of JIPMER, Puducherry likely in June 2011: The All India Entrance Examination for admission to the MBBS Course at Jawaharlal Institute of Post-Graduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER), Puducherry for 2011 is likely to be held in June, 2011. In 2010, this examination was held from 10 am to 12.30 noon on 6th June 2010 (Sunday), at Ahmedabad, Bangaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkatta, Nagpur, New Delhi, Puducherry and Thiruvananthapuram. The Entrance examination was based on the syllabus for XI & XII Standards as prescribed by State Board Higher Secondary and CBSE. It had 200 multiple choice questions from English, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology with four alternatives for each question. Each correct response was given one mark. There was no Negative Marking.  General candidates had to secure 50% marks and SC/ST/OBC candidates, 40% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in the Entrance Examination, to be included in the merit list. There were 22 unreserved seats at JIPMER in 2010. Tuition Fee was Rs. 250/- per annum in 2010.
