DATES FOR THE ENTRANCE TEST

The ENTRANCE TEST for the various Undergraduate, Postgraduate, B.Ed., B. P. Ed., and M. Ed. programmes will be conducted on the following date at all the Centers listed in the prospectus under two sessions as applicable to the applicant.

1. Undergraduate Programmes- Date: June 10, 2011 (Morning Session) Time : 9:00am. to 11:00 a.m. 2. Postgraduate B.Ed., B. P. Ed. & M. Ed. Programmes- Date: June 10, 2011 (Evening Session) Time : 01:00 p.m. to 03:00 p.m. 30 Minutes for additional section of B.Ed./B.P.Ed. / M.Ed. (i.e. 03:00 p.m to 03:30 p.m)

ADMIT CARD
The Admit Card will only be available on the website of SHIATS (www.shiats.edu.in) from May 25, 2011
The applicant is required to print the Admit Card from the University website at www.shiats.edu.in from May 25, 2011. However, he/ she is required to bring a Passport size photograph along with the admit card to the entrance test center for verification similar to that pasted on the application form.)


On - line Application
I. The candidates can also choose to apply through On-line Application Form available on the University website www.shiats.edu.in
ii. Last date for applying On-line Form is the May 18, 2011 without any late fee but the Bank Draft of Rs. 1200/-along-with a photograph must reach the Registrar’s Office positively by May 25, 2011.

Eligibility for Undergraduate Programmes
10+2 passed with at least 50% marks for general candidates and 45% marks for SC/ST/Physically handicapped candidates as per their Qualifying Examination are eligible for admission to Undergraduate Programmes (except B.Sc. Home Science) as mentioned in Table No. 4. The candidates appearing in 10+2 examination in 2011 are also eligible to apply provisionally for admission and appear in the Entrance Test, but they will have to submit documentary proof of successfully completing the examination at the time of counseling. Non submission of documentary evidence of completion of the examination and attaining eligibility by the time of counseling will disqualify him/ her for admission.

Eligibility for Postgraduate Programmes *
Candidates having passed their Bachelor's Degree in the final examination in the concerned field under 10+2+4 or 10+2+3 as per their Qualifying Examination are eligible for admission to PG Programmes as mentioned in Table No. 6.
The candidates appearing in Bachelor's Degree Examination in 2011 are also eligible to apply provisionally for admission and appear in the Entrance Test, but they will have to submit documentary proof of successfully completing the examination at the time of counseling. Non submission of documentary evidence of completion of the examination and attaining eligibility by the time of counseling will disqualify him/ her for admission.

Eligibility for B. Ed. Programme
Candidates with at least 50% marks in the Bachelor's/ Master's Degree with at least two school subjects at the Graduation level are eligible for admission.

*Eligibility for B. P. Ed. Programme
BPE with 50% marks or Bachelors Degree with Physical Education as an elective subject with 45% marks and participation in National / All India Inter University / Inter University Competition

*Eligibility for M. Ed. Programme
B. Ed. with atleast 55% marks.

*Eligibility for Ph.D. Programme
Regular Master Degree in relevant subject with at least 55% marks (or 6.00 CGPA/OGPA) for general candidate and 50% marks (or 5.5 CGPA/OGPA) for SC/ST/Physically handicapped candidates.

MODE OF ENTRANCE TEST
The AIET 2011 will be of three hours duration. There will be one question paper at the Entrance Test in English medium containing 200 multiplechoice questions (MCQs), 50 each in Physics,Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. Each correct answer carries one mark. There is no negative marking. Other details regarding model question paper, specimen answer sheet, method of making answers etc. are given separately in their prospectus. However, syllabus can be downloaded from the University website.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR APPEARING AT AIET 2011
Candidates satisfying the following criteria shall be eligible to appear for AIET 2011
1. Candidates must be Indian National. The Nationality Certificate issued by the District Magistrate I Additional District Magistrate I Chief Metropolitan Magistrate or a valid Passport shall constitute proof of Nationality.
2. The candidate must be either 17 years of age or attain this age as on 31.12.2011 (i.e. the candidate should not have been born after 31.12.1994)
3. Candidate should have passed H.S.C. (10 + 2) or equivalent examination from a Recognized Board with English securing minimum 50% marks (40% for all categories of backward class students) in the aggregate of the subjects namely, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) for admission to MBBS / BDS. The Backward class candidates must attach copy of the Caste Certificate and Caste Verification Certificates along with the application.
Candidates who have appeared for H.S.C. or equivalent examination and whose results will be declared before the dates of Counseling will also be eligible to appear at AIET 2011

The fee for the Entrance Test is Rs. 2,000/-. The feeis payable by demand draft drawn in favour of “Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil University”, on a Nationalized /Scheduled Bank, payable at Navi Mumbai .

Such candidates will have to submit the attestation format (given at the reverse of the application form) duly certified by the Head of the Deptt./Institute over his/her signature and rubber stamp (with address and name) from where the candidate is appearing or has appeared in the final year (Last Semester where Semester system is there) M.Sc. or equivalent degree examination. However, such candidates shall be admitted to the Test provisionally. They shall only be considered eligible for JRF-(NET)/LS-(NET), if they are able to produce the proof of having passed the Master’s Degree examination in the relevant or related subject with the requisite percentage of marks and within the stipulated time frame.

For JRF (NET): Minimum 19 Years and maximum 28 years as on 01-01-2011 (upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years as in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC(Non Creamy Layer), Physically handicapped/Visually handicapped and female applicants).
For LS (NET): Minimum 19 years, as on 01.01.2011. No upper age limit.

MBBS, BDS and BAMS Admissions 2011

Amrita Entrance Examination (Medical) 2011, for admission to MBBS, BDS and BAMS (Ayurveda) courses under the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, will be held from 10 am to 12.30 pm on 22nd May 2011 (Sunday) at Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Kozhikode, Kochi, Amritapuri (Kollam) and Thiruvananthapuram and also at California, U.S.A.

Amrita Entrance Exam will be of objective type with approximately 25 questions from Physics, 35 from Chemistry, 70 from Biology/Biotechnology, 10 from English and 10 from General Knowledge. The syllabus for Amrita Entrance Examination will be as per the 10 + 2 examination (CBSE). Each correct response will be awarded three marks and for each incorrect response one mark will be deducted from the total score.

Applicant should have attained at least 17 years of age as on 31st December 2011, but should not have crossed the age of 23 years as on that date. Applicant must have passed plus two or equivalent Examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology /Biotechnology and English. They should have passed in these subjects individually and should have obtained a minimum of 60% marks in English and 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology taken together, from any State Higher Secondary Board or equivalent (Biotechnology subject will be considered only for MBBS). For SC/ST Candidates, minimum marks required in plus two is 50% and 40% in the Amrita Entrance Examination.

Applicant must have passed the Higher Secondary Examination/equivalent in first attempt (Exemptions may be considered only on medical grounds and the decision of the Chairman-Admissions will be final and binding). The last two years of such study should include Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English (Biotechnology subject will be considered only for MBBS). Students studying in foreign countries following a syllabus other than any Indian syllabus should produce an Equivalence Certificate from The Association of Indian Universities, A.I.U House, 16 Comrade Indrajit Gupta Marg [Kotla Marg], New Delhi-110002.

Those awaiting results of the qualifying examination can also write the Amrita Entrance Examination subject to their producing the mark list of the qualifying examination on or before 6th June 2011.
