Hindi Scholarship 2011-2012

Applications are invited online from first year BA/BSc/BCom students and Hindi MA/B.Ed/M.Ed/MPhil/Phd students of Government/Aided colleges and University Departments for Hindi Scholarship, 2011-12.The applicants must have studied Hindi as an optional subject.First year students of the full-time Degree and PG courses conducted by Kerala Hindi Prachar Sabha are also eligible to apply.The scholarship has been instituted to promote the national language in non-Hindi speaking states.

The scholarship amount is Rs.500 per month for degree students and Rs.1000 for all others.

The applicants must have passed the eligibility exam in the first attempt with 60% marks and also need to be pass-outs of the the academic year 2011-12. There is no prescribed limit for the applicants' annual family income.

AICTE is conducting the first National level Common Management Mode of Payment Admission Test (CMATJ-2012 for facilitating institutions to select suitable students for admission in all management programmes approved by AICTE for the year 2012-13. The testing window for computer based test will be open for nine days i.e. from 20th February, 2012 to 28th February, 2012 in 61 cities. The candidates will have option of selecting date and city for appearing in the test.

General Eligibility:
The Candidates having obtained MPhil degree with at least B grade shall be eligible for admission to PhD programme.

The candidates under category i, ii and iii shall be exempted from appearing in the entrance test while the candidates under category iv above shall be required to appear and pass entrance test examination with at least 60% marks. Provided that the candidates admitted to direct PhD shall be required to clear two theory courses during the first year of their registration.

The course contents, setting of question papers and evaluation of the courses shall be on the pattern as prescribed for MPhil course.

Commercial Diving Course 2012

Applications have been invited for Commercial Diving Course being conducted at Diving School, Kochi by Indian Navy commencing on 05th March 2012. On completion of the Course, successful candidates will be awarded a certificate duly certified by Indian Navy on behalf of MoD / GoI and International Marine Contractor's Association (IMCA), UK.

Eligibility conditions: Male Indian citizens between 18 and 28 years of age as on 1st January 2012.

Educational Qualifications:
(a) Candidates passing 12th class examination of Central / State Education Board and securing 50% or more marks in matriculation are eligible.
(b) Candidates must be fluent either in Hindi or in English.

Medical Standards:
The applicants are required to attach a medical certificate from a registered medical practitioner certifying that the applicant is medically fit to undertake strenuous physical activities and is not suffering from the under-mentioned disorders:

(a) Inability of clear the ears via enustachian tubes.
(b) Perforated ear drum, chronic otitis media.
(c) Chronic sinusitis, nasal obstruction.
(d) Obesity-should not be obese.
(e) Dental caries, loss of incisor, artificial dentures.
(f) Any chronic lung disease, past or present and history of thoracic surgery, diabetes.
(g) Any functional or organic cardiovascular disease, essential hypertension, diabetes.
(h) Proven peptic ulcer, chronic diarrhoea, history of extensive abdominal surgery, evidence of hernia or tendency thereto, varicose venis or haemorrhoids unless already successfully treated.
(i) Chronic or recurrent disease of genitor urinary system.
(j) Post history of fits, psychiatric illness, repeated headaches, blackouts, severe concussion or cranial surgery.
(k) Addiction to alcohol and drugs.
(l) Stammering
(m) Skeletal or arthritic disability.
(n) Chronic skin conditions.
(p) STD and AIDS.

Mode of Selection:
(a) Vetting of applications: The applications received from the candidates are vetted at Headquarters, Southern Naval Command, Kochi and the call up letters are sent to shortlisted candidates who are required to report to Diving School, Kochi for aptitude test, screening and training. The preference of selection of candidates in order of priority is as follows. Percentage of marks obtained in 12th class examination of Central / State Board. Age factor (younger candidates are given preference) and due weightage is given for the same.

Aptitude Test and Screening:
Candidates are required to qualify an aptitude test diving and physical fitness. This test is to assess the candidate’s suitability for diving. Candidates who qualify the aptitude test undergo screening in diving skills and physical fitness. On completion of the screening, twenty candidates are selected to undergo the course.

Cost of Training: The cost of training is borne by the individual candidates as follows:
(a) ADM & Screening - Rs.9,600/-
(b) Training Charges - Rs.2,85,730/-
(c) Medical Charges - Rs. 2,000/-
(d) I MCA Certification Charge - Rs.10,000/-

Applications are invited only from the Non-Hindi speaking employees of the Central Government/Public Sector Undertaking/ Statutory Bodies/Kendriya Vidyalayas for admission to the Prabodh, Praveen and Pragya Hindi courses through correspondence. These courses are the same as conducted by the M/o Home Affairs and are based on the same syllabus. Examinations to these courses are held under the aegis of the M/o of Home Affairs and Certificates are also awarded by them. Medium of instruction for these courses is English.

Session for these courses will start from January, 2012 and examinations will be held in the month of November, 2012. Admission fee of Rs. 50/- is charged at the time of admission for the course which should be remitted in the form of Bank Draft/ IPO only drawn in favour of the Director, Central Hindi Directorate payable at New DelfMPrescribed examination fee will be charged separately).


Students already in any one of the lower course need not wait for the result of the said course to apply for a higher course i.e. Taveen or Pragya as the case may be.

IIPM’s unique Admission Test – EPAT
IIPM follows a common entrance exam (E-PAT) for all its programmes and based on the exam and other important criterions, candidates are finally selected. E-PAT (Entrepreneurship & Planning Admission Test) is based upon a written test, group discussion and interview. Unlike CAT, IIPM’s admission test E-PAT is based more on parameters pertaining to EQ (Emotional Quotient) and overall personality mapping since it has been globally observed that high IQ often takes a backseat to high EQ when it comes to Entrepreneurship and Management and dealing with human beings. Thus, the total scores of the written test, group discussion and personal interview are compiled together to compose the final score.

Selection Procedure
Selection of the candidates for admission to the programme will be made on the basis of two phases.

Phase 1: The candidates have to appear in Management Aptitude Test (MAT) conducted by AIMA. Information regarding MAT Bulletin with application form can be obtained from www.aima-ind.org

Phase 2: The applicant should also obtain separate application form and prospectus from Bharata Mata Institute of Management, Thrikkakara on payment of Rs.500/- in cash. Those who would like to get the application by post may send a D.D. for Rs.550/- drawn in favour of Director, Bharata Mata Institute of Management, payable at Ernakulam. The application can also be downloaded from this website and may apply to the institute with the required documents. Application forms can also be obtained directly from selected branches of Catholic Syrian Bank all over India.

Research Fellowship:
The Scholars selected for IIST Ph.D. programme will be given a fellowship of Rs.16,000 / Rs.18,000 for the first two years based on the qualifications.
After two years of research experience, their performance will be evaluated by a review committee constituted by Director, IIST. Based on the review, the fellowship amount may be enhanced to Rs.18,000/Rs.20,000 respectively.

The scholars will be required to assist the Departments in academic activities as and when required.

The scholars will have to pay tuition / registration fee and fee for the boarding / lodging/medical facilities etc., as per IIST rules.
Selection Procedure

Applications in the prescribed format will be received until 20th Dec 2011.
Candidates will be short-listed based on Academic records and other relevant criteria like research experience, National Eligibility Tests, etc.
Selection will be based on a written test followed by an interview.

List of shortlisted candidates for written test and the dates of written test / interview will be displayed in IIST website by 1st week of Jan 2012.
All short-listed candidates will be required to appear for a written test in their relevant areas.

Written test of two hours duration will be conducted at IIST, Trivandrum during 3rd week of Jan 2012.


The written test will aim to evaluate the basic understanding of the relevant subject area. The test may contain both descriptive and objective questions.
Candidates qualified in the written test will be required to appear for an interview the following day.

Selected candidates will be intimated within a week of the final interview. Results will also be displayed in our website.
Outstation candidates will be paid to and fro sleeper class train fare by shortest route, or actual fare (whichever is lower) for attending the test / interview.

1.2 Research Fellowship
IIST-PDF Fellowship will be Rs. 40,000/- pm (all inclusive). PDF Scholars will be required to assist the department in research and laboratory related activity. The Fellows are encouraged to publish their research findings in reputed journals jointly with collaborating faculty, following established practices of paper authorship and publications. At the end of the tenure the fellow will make a comprehensive monograph of the total research activity undertaken under the PDF programme. During the tenure at IIST, the Post Doctoral Fellow will be governed by the leave and other administrative norms applicable to full time research scholars of IIST.


1.3 Application Procedure
Applications in the prescribed format will be received until 15th January 2012. Applicants are required to send CV in the specific format and also submit a research proposal within the frame work of the area advertised for the PDF. The research proposal should be of 3 to 5 pages and should contain the following information.

1.5 Selection procedure
Short listed applicants will be invited to present a seminar on the topic of research followed by discussion with a specialist committee. The specialist committee will make their recommendation ranking the PDF applicants in each research area in the order of merit. The PDF is initially awarded for one year and is extendable to a second year based on the review of the progress of the research work by the end of the first year by an expert committee. Outstation candidates will be paid to and fro 3 AC class train fare by shortest route, or actual fare (whichever is lower) for attending the seminar / discussion.

(b) For Physics Discipline : MSc in Physics/ Applied Physics/ Electronics or BE/ BTech in Engineering Physics with minimum of 60% aggregate marks. MSc applicants should have Physics and Mathematics up to BSc or at subsidiary and/or ancillary level in case of five year integrated MSc, with minimum of 60% aggregate marks in MSc as well as in BSc. Applicants opting to be considered on the basis of GATE Score should have valid GATE Score in Physics. For applicants having BE (Engineering Physics) or MSc (Electronics) as qualifying degree, valid GATE Score in Engineering Science is also acceptable.

(c) For Chemistry Discipline : MSc in Chemistry with Physics up to BSc or at subsidiary and/or ancillary level in case of five year integrated MSc and Mathematics up to Std. XII, with minimum of 60% aggregate marks in MSc as well as in BSc. Applicants opting to be considered on the basis of GATE Score should have valid GATE Score in Chemistry.

(d) For Biosciences Discipline : MSc in Agriculture, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology,Biotechnology, Genetics, Botany, Zoology, Plant Science, Plant Breeding, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Food Technology, Animal Science, Life Sciences and Biosciences; or BE/BTech/BSc (Tech) only in Food Technology with minimum of 60% aggregate marks

Visiting Students' Research Programme (VSRP-2012)

The Visiting Students' Research Programme (VSRP-2012) will be held by Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai during the period May 14 to July 6, 2012. In VSRP, talented students are given an exposure to research activities in areas of Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics (Astronomy & Astrophysics, Condensed Matter Physics & Material Sciences, High Energy Physics, Nuclear & Atomic Physics and Theoretical Physics). The programmes are held at the Mumbai campus of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research as well as at the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA), Pune.

Eligibility:
Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics
Pre-final year students of
(1) MSc in Applied Maths, Astronomy, Biosciences, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics.
(2) BE / BTech with interest in Physics.
(3) Medicine / Engineering.
(4) Exceptionally bright BSc students in Mathematics may be considered.

Computer & Systems Sciences
Pre-final year students of BE / BTech / MSc / MCA / ME / MTech

Before filling the online application form please keep the following ready:
1. Scanned photo (.jpg file of size not exceeding 100kb) of your passport size photograph.
2. Students are required to fill in two areas of study in order of preference.
3. A write-up of 100 words describing the students interest in the most preferred field of study is required to be uploaded (in .doc or .pdf format and file size not exceeding 1MB).
4. Names and email ids of two Referees who would be filling up the Referee Report Forms of the student. They should be teachers or persons with whom the student has interacted academically.

Students from remote areas who do not have access to internet can send a request for application form along with a self-addressed stamped envelope of Rs 10/- to The Assistant Registrar (Academic), Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Homi Bhabh Road, Colaba, Mumbai 400005 on or before January 6, 2012.
