Applications are invited for ISM JRF (Ph.D. Programme) from eligible candidates in the following disciplines:

Humanities and Social Sciences: Philosophy and English

from our website at http://www.ismdhanbad.ac.in/admissions/phd_notice.htm from March 10 2012. The filled up Application Form along with a fee of `1200/- (non- refundable) and requisite documents should reach the Deputy Registrar (Acad &SW), Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad-826004 not later than April 06, 2012. Applicants are advised to ensure fulfilment of all eligibility criteria. GATE/ NET qualified candidates not earlier than 2010 are exempted from appearing in the ISM JRF Written Examination. The ISM JRF(Ph.D)-2012 written test for GATE not qualified/ NET not qualified/ GATE-NET Qualified candidates earlier than 2010 shall be held on 13.05.2012 at Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Dhanbad, Guwahati, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, New Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad and Varanasi.

ISM-JRF PH.D PROGRAMMES
The Indian School of Mines (ISM), established in 1926, is a Deemed University (since 1967), fully funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. ISM is located in Dhanbad, the heart of major Indian coalfields, in the state of Jharkhand. It offers B.Tech, Dual-degree, Integrated M.Sc./M. Sc. Tech, M. Sc /M.Sc.Tech, M.Tech, MPhil, MBA, Ph.D and D.Sc. in various areas of Engineering: Computer Science, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics, Environmental, Fuel, Industrial, Mechanical, Mineral, Mining, Mining Machinery, Petroleum; Science: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Geology, Applied Geophysics, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Management and Humanities & Social Sciences: Philosophy and English. It has been focusing its academic and research activities on various aspects of industry. The ISM has maintained its all India character drawing faculty and students from all over India. It occupies a unique position, not only in India but also in Asia Pacific, and has contributed to the development of mineral sector substantially.

Health Centre, Canteen, Captive Generator, Sports, Recreational facilities etc.
Ph.D PROGRAMMES

To provide opportunity for carrying out research work, leading to Ph.D degree, the ISM provides Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). The JRF Scheme is currently available to the Post Graduates/ Graduates in Engineering and PG/M.Phil.in Science, Humanities/Management for undertaking Ph.D research work in the disciplines of Engineering: Computer Science, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics, Environmental, Fuel, Industrial, Mechanical, Mineral, Mining, Mining Machinery, Petroleum; Science: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Geology, Applied Geophysics, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Management and Humanities & Social Sciences: Philosophy and English. . The selected JRFs are required to register for Ph.D programme within one month of joining and to pay the required tuition fees and other charges on the date of registration, failing which the selection will stand cancelled.
