Applications have been invited by SN Bose National Centre For Basic Sciences, Kolkata for admission to the following course:

PhD Programmes in Physical, Chemical & Biological Sciences.

Basic qualification : MSc with First Class / Division in Physics, Chemistry & Biology and /or its interdisciplinary branches with Mathematics as one of the subjects.

Eligibility for Interview : Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview during 11-15 June 2012, based on their JEST 2012 and /or CSIR-UGC-NET (JRF/LS) and/or Bose Test-2012 scores. For exact dates of interview, please visit the website after 25th April, 2012. Those who have qualified in the BOSE TEST-2012 held on 4th March, 2012 need not apply again.

Fellowship : In line with the CSIR rules.
Rs 16,000 per month for the first two years as a JRF. Thereafter, upon meeting the eligibility criteria of the Centre and a Comprehensive Examination, the students will be inducted as SRF with a monthly stipend of Rs. 18000/-. The programme is strictly Residential and all students will be provided on campus accommodation.

The S. N Bose National Centre announces the Summer Research Programme to be conducted during May to July 2012 for students in first /second year of M.Sc in Physical, Chemical (including Biophysics and Chemical Biology) and Mathematical Sciences. The project will be for a period of eight weeks (with no break) under the supervision of a Faculty Member of SNBNCBS in an area of mutual interest. Stay for a period less than eight weeks will not be entertained. At the end of the project, the students are required to give a presentation of their work and also submit a project report. The Centre will provide each student an honorarium of Rs 2,000 per week to cover the hostel and other expenses. They will be allowed to use the canteen facilities in the centre. The outstation students will be reimbursed with AC III Tier return Train Fare (except Rajdhani, Duronto and similar trains) between their place of work or residence and Kolkata. The list of members of the faculty of the centre and their field of research are available in the web-page of the Centre. Interested students, with consistent good academic record may approach the Faculty members with whom they would like to work or may directly write to the below mentioned contacts. A letter of recommendation by the Head of the Department or by a senior member of the Faculty who has taught the student, should accompany the application. The last date of receiving applications is 15th March 2012. The decision will be sent by April first week.
