MBBS and BDS Admission 2012-2013

Sri Ramachandra University, Porur, Chennai has invited applications for admission to the MBBS and BDS Courses for 2012-13, offered at the Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Centre and Sri Ramachandra Dental Colleges and Hospital respectively. Selection to the MBBS Programme will be based on the merit in the All India Entrance Examination to be conducted at Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata and Pune from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m on 27.5.2012 (Sunday).

Selection to the MBBS Programme will be based on the merit in the All India Entrance Examination to be conducted at Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata and Pune from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm on 27.5.2012 (Sunday).

Those from any State/Union Territory of India are eligible for admission. Applicant should complete 17 years of age as on 31st December, 2012. Date of birth given in the HSC/CBSE/ISC or its equivalent Mark Statement or in the Birth Certificate or Passport shall be taken for computing the age of the candidates.

For admission to the MBBS Programme, applicant must have passed or should be appearing for, the H.S.C (+2) examination/equivalent examination and obtained a minimum of 50% of marks (40% in case of SC/ST & OBC) in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (or Botany & Zoology)/ Biotechnology and a pass in English; and must also secure not less than 50% marks (40% in case of SC/ST & OBC) in the Entrance Examination.

For admission to the BDS Programme, applicant must have passed or should be appearing for, the H.S.C (+2) examination/equivalent examination and obtained a minimum of 50% of marks (in case of SC/ST & OBC 40%) in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (or Botany & Zoology) and a pass in English; and must also secure not less than 50% marks (in case of SC/ST & OBC 40%) in the Entrance Examination.

Those who have passed qualifying examination other than H.S.C. (+2) (Academic Stream) Examination of Tamil Nadu should obtain Eligibility Certificate from Sri Ramachandra University, Chennai and produce it at the time of admission.

Those who are appearing for the H.S.C (+2) equivalent Examination in March/April, 2012 should submit a photocopy of the H.S.C (+2) mark statement, immediately on its receipt to the Registrar of this University either in person or by speed post or by courier service with the Registration Number of the Entrance Examination, assigned to them by this University, written at the top of the copy of the HSC Mark Statement. If any candidate does not submit copy of H.S.C (+2) mark statement to the University office on or before 8.6.2012 his/her ranking will be fixed as specified in clause 11(c) of the Prospectus that may be downloaded from www.sriramachandra.edu.in Separate Applications are to be submitted for MBBS and BDS. Applications can be obtained in person from the University by paying Rs.500/- at the University office.

Applications can be obtained by Post till 10th May, 2012, by sending a Demand Draft for Rs.600/- drawn in favour of ‘Sri Ramchandra University’, payable at Chennai. Applications can also be downloaded from www.sriramachandra.edu.in and submitted along with a Demand Draft for Rs.500/- drawn in favour of ‘Sri Ramchandra University’, payable at Chennai.

Application form should be filled in carefully and legibly by the candidate in his/her own handwriting. Applicants need enclose only photocopies of the certificates relating to qualification, Community, Date of Birth and Nationality (HSC Mark Statement(s), Transfer Certificate etc). The original Mark Statement(s) of the qualifying examination and other original documents have to be produced only at the time of counselling. Three identical and recently taken passport size colour photographs are required. Applicant should affix the photographs in the space provided in the application- one on the front page of the Application Form and one each on the Hall Ticket Forms. Applicant should sign on the photographs affixed on the Hall Ticket Forms.

Filled Applications with the enclosures as specified in the Prospectus, should reach ‘The Registrar, Sri Ramachandra University, Porur, Chennai - 600 116’, in person or by Registered Post / Speed Post / Courier Service, latest by 5 pm on 15.5.2012 (Tuesday). The printed envelope supplied with the application form should be used for this purpose. If the application form is downloaded from the website, the candidate should submit the application form without folding it in an A4 size envelope and should also enclose a self addressed cover for sending Hall ticket.

Hall Ticket for the All India Entrance Examination will be issued only to the eligible candidates and will be despatched to reach the candidates on or before 21.5.2012 (Monday). The actual venue of Entrance Examination at the Centre opted by the candidates will be given in the Hall Ticket. Request for change of Centre will not be considered. If adequate number of candidates is not available for a Centre the candidates who have opted for that Centre will be allocated to any other nearby Centre.

If any candidate does not receive the Hall Ticket by 23.5.2012 (Wednesday), he/she should contact the office of the Registrar of University over phone (044-2476 5512 or 2476 5625) or report by fax (044-2476 5995 or 2476 7008) immediately. For such candidates, duplicate Hall Ticket will be issued at the centre opted by the candidate on the previous day of the Entrance Examination, on 26-05-2012 between 3 p.m and 4 p.m. The candidate should bring a copy of the identical passport size photograph already pasted on the Hall Ticket.

Candidates are advised to be at the Entrance Examination Centre one hour before the commencement of the Examination. They need not bring ball point pen. This will be provided to them at the examination centres.

The All India Entrance Examination will have the Question paper in English medium only.  The question booklet will consist of 180 multiple choice questions (single best response) with 45 questions each from Physics and Chemistry and 90 from Biology (Botany & Zoology). Questions will be based on the H.S.C (+2) syllabus followed by major H.S.C (+2) Boards/Universities. Maximum marks will be 100. All questions must be answered and they carry equal marks. There will be no negative mark for wrong answer. Correct answer must be shaded with ball point pen in the OMR Answer Sheet supplied along with the question booklet.

There are 250 seats for MBBS (Subject to approval of Renewal of permission for increase of seats from 150 to 250 by the MCI) and 100 seats for BDS (both include NRI seats). The annual fee for M.B.B.S for the academic year 2012-13 is Rs. 6,50,000/- and that for B.D.S is Rs. 3,50,000/-  More details can be had from the Prospectus and also at http://www.sriramachandra.edu.in/
