Admission to Nursing, paramedical courses 2012-2013


The LBS Centre for Science and Technology has invited applications for admission to Nursing and paramedical degree courses in government medical, nursing and pharmacy colleges and government-controlled self-financing and private self-financing colleges in the State. The rank list will be prepared on the basis of the marks in the qualifying examination and only the government merit seats will be filled through this selection process.

Courses
B.Sc. Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), Perfusion Technology, Medical Radiological Technology, and Optometry; Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT), Bachelor of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (BASLP), Bachelors of Cardiovascular Technology (BCVT), Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm), and Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.). 

Duration of the Pharm.D. course is six years and other courses, four.

For admission to B.Sc. Nursing, MLT and Optometry courses, those who have passed the Plus Two course with 50 per cent marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English put together are eligible to apply.

For the BPT course, the applicants should have studied English as a subject at the Plus Two level.

For admission to the B.Sc. Perfusion Technology and MRT, BCVT and BPT courses, the applicant should have passed the Plus Two course with 50 per cent marks in biology and 50 per cent marks in physics, chemistry and biology put'together.

For admission to the BASLP course, the applicants should have passed the Plus Two examination with 50 per cent marks in physics, chemistry and biology, mathematics, computer science, statistics, electronics or physiology put together.

For admission to the B.Pharm. course, the applicant should have passed the Plus Two course with 50 per cent marks in biology, mathematics, biotechnology, and computer science separately and 50 per cent marks in physics, chemistry and biology, mathematics, biotechnology or computer science put together.

For admission to the Pharm.D. course, the applicant should have passed the Plus Two course with 50 per cent marks in biology or mathematics and 50 per cent in physics, chemistry and biology or mathematics put together.

Those who have passed the Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm.) course with at least 50 per cent marks will also be considered for admission to the 20 per cent reserved seats.

For all the above courses, those belonging to the Socially and Economically Backward Community category with annual family income not exceeding Rs. 4.5 lakh need only 45 per cent marks in the qualifying examination.

Those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes need only pass marks.

How to apply
Only a single application is needed for all these courses. Apply online before May 18 through www.lbscentre.org or www.lbskerala.com. The application fee for the general category is Rs. 500 and the Scheduled category, Rs. 250. Before submitting the applications online, the application fee should be paid at any branch of Federal Bank in Kerala to obtain a bank receipt containing the application number and the security key, which is essential for the online registration.

A copy of the prospectus can be obtained from any of the district-level LBS facilitation centres by producing the bank receipt.

Detailed instructions for online registration and method of submission of application are given in the prospectus. These can be downloaded , from the website.

There will be two stages for the submission of applications. The first stage is online registration of personal data and submission of applications.

The applicant should create a password for online registration- and keep the password and registration ID confidential.

On completing the online registration, the computer will generate a 'registration ID' and a printout has to be taken of the application, which, along with attested copies of relevant certificates, has to be sent to the LBS Centre Director so as to reach there on or before May 19. The second stage is downloading the academic data sheet from the website by using the application number, the security key and password.

The signed academic data sheet, along with attested copies of mark list, should be sent to the Director, LBS Centre for Science and Technology, Nandavanam, Thiru-vananthapuram - 695 033 so as to reach there on or before June 13.

Separate rank lists will be published for each course. Registration of college and course options can be done only after the publication of the rank lists.
