Having established name and fame for excellence in higher education and for maintaining high standards of technical education ever since its inception in the year 1989, the Noorul Islam College of Engineering was christened a Deemed University in 2008 as Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education, popularly known as Noorul Islam University U/s 3 of UGC Act 1956. This metamorphosis from an engineering college into a University is indeed a fitting reward for all the sincerity, dedication and sense of commitment displayed by the management and the Staff.
The Universi at Kumaracoil, Thuckalay in Kanyakumari District of Tamilnadu, is situated in the serene and lush green base of Velimalai, spectacular part of Western Ghat Hills near the historically famous Padmanabhapuram palace. It is only 1.5 km interior towards the foothills of the mountains from Kumaracoil junction on the Kanyakumari Trivandrum National Highway (NH 10) about 10 km from Kanyakumari and 60 km from Trivandrum, the capital city of Kerala.Endowed with world class infra facilities for engineering education, the Noorul Islam University is located in a lush green environment covering an area of over 300 acres of land with buildings at a cost of over Rs. 100 crores. Thus the location of the institution, its academic ambience, the studetns' access to infra facilities, highly qualified and experienced faculty with their sense of commitment and the placement track records make the Noorul Islam University an excellent learning centre of technical education.

Noorul Islam University Satellite
Noorul Islam University is planning to design, fabricate and launch NIUSAT" as a Student satellite with the guidance of ISRO under the stewardship of Dr.A.E Muthunayagam, Advisor of the University. Assembling, integration and testing of the system will be done by the students of the university and will be of great benefit to the Agriculturists ami fisher folk of Kanyakumari District besides providing invaluable hands on experience
