The Aliah University is going to organize Talent Search Program exclusively for the students from the Madrasahs in West Bengal through a written testThe purpose of this activity is to identify, encourage, and nurture the talent in mathematics and other sciences among the students studying in Madrasahs (both Junior and High)

The Programme consists of two schemes

Madrasah Mathematics Olympiad (MMO)
Madrasah Science Talent Search (MSTS)

Both the MMO and MSTS will be of two categories Category-I and Category-II for Class VIII and Class X, respectively

Eligibility: Candidates who are presently studying in Class-IX (2012-2013 session, in Madrasah) and have appeared in secondary examination (2012) conducted by West Bengal Board of Madrasaha Education are eligible for appearing in the tests

Syllabus: The syllabi of the MMO and MSTS for Class VIII/X will be the same as those syllabi of Mathematics and Sciences of the same level, while one is expected to have a sound knowledge of the subjects already learnt at lower classes

It is important to note that these comprehensive tests are intended to asses both depth and breadth of knowledge in the subjects

Questions need not be from common text books of the same levels already mentioned

Scheme of Examination:
There will be multiple choice type questions with four alternatives, with single correct answer

Candidates have to answer the items on a separate answer sheet which will be given along with the question paper

Medium of Examination: The medium of examination will be English, Bengali and Urdu


Date of Examination: The admit card shall have all relevant information about the venue, roll number and time of the test

The tentative date of examination is 01st September, 2012


Centres of Examination: The test will be conducted in three regional centres, one each in north and south Bengal and the third one in Kolkata

Fees: Rs 25/- (for category-I) and Rs 50/- (for category-II) in the form of Bank draft for each student in favour of Aliah University, payable at Kolkata, should be submitted by the Madrasaha from where students will be appearing in the test

How to apply: Filled application forms (form-A/form-B) along with the bank draft should reach to the Chairman, Talent Search Committee, Aliah University, DN-47, Salt Lake, Kolkata-700091 on and before 10th July, 2012

Awards and Scholarships
Category-I for Class-VIII (MMO/MSTS): Qualified students (maximum 100 students from MMO and MSTS) will be awarded with a certificate as well as scholarship of Rs 500/- per month to meet their expenses for further studies in Class IX and Class X

Category-II for Class-X (MMO/MSTS): Qualified students (maximum 100 students from MMO and MSTS) will be awarded with a certificate as well as scholarship of Rs 800/- per month to meet their expenses for further studies in Class XI and Class XII

Scholarship to the eligible candidate will be sent to the Head of the institution and disburse through the same
Only one scholarship will be given to a candidate even if he/she stands within top 100 students of both MMO and MSTS

If any discrepancy arises, decision of the Talent Search Committee will be the final

Application in the prescribed form are invited for admission to the courses of study in the North Eastern Hill University for MBA / B.A.LL.B.(Hons) and B.Tech Programme commencing from August, 2012.

MANAGEMENT: Master of Business Administration (MBA) Eligibility Criteria for MBA Programme: A bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized University with minimum 50% marks in the aggregate (45% marks in case of SC/ST). Those appearing in the final examination and expecting their result by July 15, 2012 may also apply. (Eligible candidates need to appear any of the MAT Tests (May, September, December, 2011 and February 2012). Candidates who are willing to take admission in the MBA Programme are required to fill up the NEHU application form enclosing their respective MAT Score.

B. TECH  PROGRAMME: Information Technology (IT) and Electronics Communication Engineering (ECE) and Lateral entry to 3rd Semester : Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech: (a) Candidates who has passed/appeared/appearing in the higher secondary (10+2) Examination or its equivalent in Science  Stream from any recognized Board having secured a minimum of 50% marks ( in aggregate) in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST candidates), (b) A candidates must have valid All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) Score.

DEPARTMENT OF LAW: B.A.LL.B (HONS): Eligibility Criteria for Law: (a) Candidates who have passed/appeared are appearing the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) or its equivalent (such as 11+1. A level in Senior School Leaving Certificate Course) from a recognized University of India or outside or from a Senior Secondary Board or  equivalent examination in any stream securing an aggregate of not less than 50% of the marks, relaxable by 5% for SC/ST shall be eligible to seek admission to the  programme (b) The maximum age for seeking admission into the course is  limited to 20 (twenty) years in case  of general category of applicant and to 22 (twenty two ) years in case  of applicant from Sc/ST and other Backward Communities as on 1st August, 2012 (c) No student shall be allowed to simultaneously register for the  course with any other graduate/post graduate/ certificate course(s) run by the university or any other university/institute for academic or  professional learning provided that any short period part time certificate course on language, computer science or computer application of an  institute or any course run by a Centre for Distance Learning or a university however, shall be accepted. The candidate will have to clear the Entrance Test to be conducted by the Department.

I. DOCTORAL DEGREE PROGRAMMES : Bangalore Campus


a. Eligibility for admission to Doctoral degree programme
• A Master’s degree in the concerned subject or an equivalent qualification from Agricultural/Deemed Universities/Institutes recognized by ICAR, New Delhi in terms of equivalent course duration, with CGPA of 2.50/4.00 or OGPA of 7.00/10.00 or its equivalent.  In case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/Cat-I, the 
minimum CGPA required is 2.00/4.00 or OGPA of 6.00/10.00 to seek admission. 
• Candidates who were admitted previously to doctoral degree programmes and have completed 75 per cent of the approved course work are eligible for re-admission. 
• The candidates studied under Trimester system seeking admission for PhD Programmes are required to submit compulsorily the  equivalent percentage certificate (Masters degree) obtained from the respective Universities/Institutions. 
• Domicile requirement is not required for regular or deputation candidates  of other states seeking admission to Ph.D. programmes.       
• Provision is also made to admit few candidates deputed from UASB/other Universities / Institutions  of State/CentralGovernment and recognized   autonomous  institutions subject to conditions. 
• All eligible candidates seeking admission, including candidates with or without ICAR-SRF/ CSIR/UGC/any other fellowships, and  candidates on deputation from State/Central Government and autonomous institutions for Ph.D. degree programmes shall apply for  only one subject and are required to appear for written entrance examination for 90 marks in the concerned subject and secure a minimum of 40 per cent ( in case of SC/ST & Cat-I ,35 per cent) to qualify  in the entrance examination. 
• Those candidates who do not score minimum qualifying marks are not considered for preparation of merit list.    Candidate seeking re-admission are  also required to appear for written entrance examination. However, scoring of minimum marks prescribed is not applicable to candidates seeking re-admission.   
• Merit will be determined by giving 50% weightage to academic performance, 45% to written entrance examination and remaining 5 %   for sports/cultural/NSS/higherOGPA/Research publications /ICAR-SRF/CSIR / UGC , with fellowship. Out of these, candidates should secure a minimum of 50% (in case of  SC/ST &Cat-I,     35 % to become eligible for admission.


II. MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAMMES 

Masters degree: Eligibility conditions
1. Candidates seeking admission to Master’s degree programmes should possess eligible  Bachelor’s degree from Agriculture/Deemed Universities /Institutes recognized by ICAR in terms of equivalent course duration of four years (10+2+4 year’s pattern) in all the Undergraduate degree programmes, with a minimum CGPA of 2.25/4.00 or OGPA of 6.50/10.00 or its equivalent.  In case of SC/ST/Cat-I, the minimum CGPA required is 2.00/4.00 or OGPA of  6.00/10.00 to seek admission to Master’s degree programmes. 
 2. Candidate should have studied for a minimum period of seven academic years in any educational institution in Karnataka State any time up to bachelor degree as on 1st July 2012 as domicile requirement. 
3. Candidates who were admitted previously to Master’s degree programmes and have completed 75 per cent of the approved course work are eligible for re-admission.
4. The candidates studied under Trimester system seeking admission for Master’s degree  Programmes are required to submit compulsorily the equivalent percentage certificate   ( Bachelor’s degree) obtained from the respective University/Institution.
5. Candidates qualified in ICAR (JRF) exam   of particular subject with fellowship or without fellowship   shall apply for of a particular subject only and should invariably appear for entrance examination of that group. 
6. Eligible candidate shall apply for only one Group of his/her choice from among Groups-A to G for Master’s degree and is required to appear for Written entrance examination for 180 marks covering all the subjects included in that group and secure a minimum of 40% (In case of  SC/ST/Cat-I, 35%) to qualify. However, in case of candidates seeking re-admission   minimum  scoring of marks requirement is not applicable.  
7. Merit will be determined by giving 50% weightage to academic performance, 45% to written entrance examination and remaining 5% for sports & games / cultural /NSS/higher OGPA/ICAR-JRF with fellowship. Out of these, candidates should secure a minimum of 50% (in case of SC/ST &Cat-I, 35 %) to become eligible for admission.


III. MBA(ABM) :Eligibility conditions
1. Candidates seeking admission for MBA(ABM) should apply separately in the prescribed application form only  
2. Candidate should have studied for a minimum period  of  seven academic years in any educational institution in Karnataka State any time up to bachelor degree as on 1 st July 2012 as domicile requirement 
3. Candidates seeking admission to MBA (ABM) programme in the University shall possess eligible Bachelors degree (A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture/Horticulture/ Sericulture/ Forestry/ Agricultural Biotechnology/ B.Tech. (Food Science &Tech.)/ B.Tech. (Agri.Engg.) / Veterinary & Animal Sciences from Agricultural/ Horticultural/ Veterinary Universities / Deemed University / Institution recognized by ICAR, New Delhi) with a minimum CGPA of 2.25/4.00 or OGPA of 6.50/10.00.  In case of SC/ST/Cat-I, the minimum CGPA required is 2.00/4.00 or OGPA of 6.00/10.00 to seek admission to MBA (ABM). 
4. The candidates studied under Trimester system seeking admission for Master’s degree programmes are required to submit compulsorily the  equivalent percentage certificate (Bachelor’s degree) obtained from the respective University/Institution. 
5. Eligible candidates require to appear for a Written entrance examination for 100  marks,which include knowledge on Agricultural Technology (KAT)  and Management Aptitude Test (MAT) and secure a minimum of 40% ( In case of SC/ST/Cat-I, 35 %) to qualify for Group Discussion and Interview. 
6. Merit will be determined by giving 50% weightage to academic performance, 45% to written entrance examination, group discussion, Interview and remaining 5 %  for sports & games /cultural/NSS. Out of these, candidate should secure a minimum of 50% (in case of SC/ST  & Cat-I, 35 %) to become eligible for admission. 

IV. RESERVATION OF SEATS 
(a) Reservation of seats in favour of candidates belonging to SC/ST and other Backward    
 Classes shall be in accordance with the reservation policy of the Government of    Karnataka 
stipulated from time to time.  
(b) Five seats are reserved for Sports and Games (2), Cultural (2) and NSS (1) for Master’s degree  
including MBA(ABM) programme.

9. Attendance:
80% of attendance is compulsory for each semester failing which the candidate shall not be permitted to appear for the examination.
10. Other details:
The list of selected candidates will be displayed on the Notice Board of the School of Pedagogical Sciences, Dharmasala. The selected candidates are to appear for an interview at the School of Pedagogical Sciences, wherein the original of their certificates and other documents will be verified. Full-time scholars who are selected shall be offered a Research fellowship of Rs. 8,000 per month in Engineering discipline and Rs.5,000/- per month in other disciplines for a maximum period of three years.
