Applications have been invited for BEd Entrance Test leading for admission to BEd Course in Himachal Pradesh for the Session 2014-15

Educational Qualifications:
(i) The candidates with at least 50% marks either in the Bachelor’s Degree (Medical / Non-Medical / Commerce / Arts) and/or in the Master’s Degree or any other qualification equivalent thereto (any candidate with 49.99 % or less Marks would not be eligible) and 45% marks in case of SC / ST / OBC / Physically Handicapped categories (any candidate with 44.99% or less Marks would not be eligible) from a recognized University established by law in India are eligible for admission to the programme.

(ii) The candidates who have appeared in BA / BSc / BCom final year or Master’s Degree examination and the result of the same has not yet been declared, can also apply for BEd Entrance Test. However, the admission will be made subject to the production of certificate of qualifying examination with required percentage of aggregate marks at BA / BSc / BCom / Master’s level examinations as per the eligibility clause of the prospectus on the day of admission / counseling. In case, a candidate does not fulfill the eligibility conditions on the particular day of admission / counseling, he / she will have no right for admission to the BEd course.

Age: There is no upper age limit for candidates applying to the regular BEd Course of one year.

National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS), Pune under Department of Biotechnology has invited application from candidates who are bonafide Indian citizens and having consistently good academic record for the admission to PhD programme of July-August 2014.

Eligibility for NCCS PhD Program:
I. Should have Masters (postgraduate) degree in any branch of Science with interest in pursuing research in Modern Biology and having at least 50% or equivalent Grade Point Average (GPA) and with a valid fellowship from CSIR / DBT / ICMR / UGC / DST-Inspire /BINC, etc.

II. Students with post graduate degree, who do not have individual fellowship but have qualified JGEEBILS exam conducted by NCBS /TIFR on 8th December, 2013 will be eligible to apply and will be shortlisted by NCCS criteria for MCQ test/interview

III. Students who have a fellowship and expect to be awarded MSc Degree by end of July-2014 are also eligible to apply. Their selection will be provisional and will be cancelled if the final results are not produced by the end of November 2014.

IV. All the eligible complete applications received within the last date will be screened and shortlisted candidates will be called for MCQ entrance test/interview as per the schedule given below.

V. Candidates who have qualified only for Lectureship in CSIR-UGC (NET) and the 'Project List of ICMR' are not eligible.

VI. Other terms and conditions of the fellowship will be directed by the agency awarding the fellowship. The upper age limit for JRF shall be 28 years which is relaxed up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/Women/PH and 3 years in case of OBC candidates.

VII. Reservation will be as per Government of India guidelines.

Interested candidates who satisfy the above criteria may submit their typed application in the prescribed format (download from NCCS web site). The completed hardcopy application form along with the copies of MSc marks statement and Fellowship certificate / admit card should reach the Dean (Academics), National Centre for Cell Science, University of Pune Campus, Ganeshkhind, Pune – 411 007 on or before 26th May 2014. SC / ST / OBC candidates should also attach true copy of Caste Certificate / Latest non-creamy layer certificate along with the application and originals should be produced at the time of Interview

Personal interview will be held at NCCS, Pune of all shortlisted candidates as per NCCS criteria. In case of a large number of eligible applications, a MCQ based entrance test will be held on 23rd June 2014 at NCCS from 10.00 am onwards. Details of the interview process / schedule will be published on the NCCS website along with the list of shortlisted candidates on 2nd June, 2014.

Eligibility Criteria:
The candidates must have:

Minimum 60% in aggregate (55% for SC / ST) in Class 10, Class 12. (Copies of passing certificates and Mark-sheets to be attached with the Application Receipt).

Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Engineering / Technology (4 years duration course after 10+2), Master’s degree in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics / Geology or Geoscience with 60% marks or C.P.I. of 6.0. Mathematics must be one of the subjects in 10+2. Bachelor’s Degree must have AICTE recognition. (Photocopy of degree or provisional degree and Mark-sheets of all semesters / years to be attached with the Application Receipt)

Qualification either in CAT 2013 / GMAT (After June 2013) / XAT-2014(Copy of Admit Card and Score Card to be attached along with the Application Receipt. Applicants filling online application before announcement of XAT result have to send self- attested copy of XAT score card within a week of declaration of XAT result)
Applicants fulfilling the above criteria will be shortlisted based on merit. Selection process comprises of Group Discussion and Personal Interview.

Not all those satisfying the minimum requirement are likely to be shortlisted.
Reservation policy as per Government of India’s directives will be applicable.

Sponsored Candidates:
Companies can also sponsor their employees for the above mentioned MBA programme. Sponsored candidates should have worked continuously for at least two years in the same organization. The company should certify this in their letterhead and should confirm that they will continue to pay the salary during the period of study. Sponsored candidates are not entitled for any financial assistance from RGIPT.

Features:
Each selected Post-Doctoral (PD) Fellow will be eligible for a monthly fellowship of Rs.25,000/- for two years. An annual contingent grant of Rs.50,000/- and 10% H.R.A also will be granted to the PD Fellows. The Post-Doctoral fellowship can be availed for research in an institution other than the department or institute anywhere in India where the candidate has undergone PhD work.

ADMISSION ELIGIBILITY:  
• An applicant possessing a Masters degree in Engineering/Technology/ Sciences/Management/Humanities in respective discipline or equivalent with a minimum 60% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) or equivalent Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) as determined by the Delhi Technological University and at least 60% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) or equivalent CGPA at Bachelor’s degree level shall be eligible to apply for admission to a Ph.D programme of the University provided he should not have attained an age of 50 yrs. The relaxation in age limit may be done by Academic Council on case to case basis. In exceptional cases applicant with Bachelors’ degree in Engineering & Technology having a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate (of all semesters) or equivalent CGPA and having proven research capability may also be considered eligible.
• An employee of a Government Department/Government Undertaking, a Research/Development Organisation, a Public Sector Undertaking, an Educational Institution or a reputed private industry in Engineering & Technological manufacturing/ R&D/Services with a minimum relevant working experience of two years may be considered for admission as a sponsored (full-time)/part-time Research scholar. Sponsored applicants will be eligible for admission provided they are treated by their employers as on duty with their normal salary and allowances and are fully relieved for the period of study.
• Part-time applicants will be eligible under three categories (i) Candidates from organizations which have MoU with Delhi Technological University (ii) Organizations with R&D Labs of national repute (iii) Regular faculty/Teaching cum Research Fellow or Scientists from Educational Institutions, R&D organizations, and Govt. Department/Govt. Undertaking provided that:
• the applicant possesses the minimum entry qualifications for the degree as given in 1;
• the applicant is having at least two years experience in regular capacity.

• the applicant proves to the satisfaction of the University that his official duties permit him to devote sufficient time to research:
• facilities for research are available at the applicant's place of work in the chosen field of research or the applicant can spare sufficient time to pursue research in the Department of the Delhi Technological University on daily basis, residing in the vicinity of the University; and • he/she will be permitted to reside at the Delhi Technological University for a period of not less than 6 months during his/her registration for the degree.
(This condition of minimum residence will be automatically waived for candidates who are working in National Capital Region (NCR) of Delhi or in organisations/institutions located within a distance of 50 km from the Delhi Technological University).
If the number of courses prescribed by the DRC is more than 12, then the residency requirement for part time Ph.D students working in Educational Institutes/Organisation outside NCR of Delhi will be 1 Year.
• Project staff under sponsored projects, sponsored by DST/UGC/any government agency, Industry or centres established from grant-in-aid from government or international agencies at Delhi Technological University for not less than 2 year duration may be given administrative clearance to seek admission on part-time basis at any time after completing two years of service in the University subject to recommendations of the concerned Principal Investigator of the said project/ centre and approval of the Vice Chancellor.
• Permanent academic staff of the Delhi Technological University (including the academic staff of erstwhile Delhi College of Engineering) may be given administrative clearance to seek registration on part-time basis after satisfactory completion of the period of probation subject to recommendations of the concerned head of the Department and approval of the Vice Chancellor.

SELECTION PROCEDURE  
• (a) The shortlisting of applications for the purpose of screening test & interview will be done by the Ph.D coordinator nominated by the Vice-Chancellor in consultation with the respective departments.
 (b) The screening test shall be conducted by Ph.D coordinator. The DRC of the concerned department shall decide the cut off for the screening test for shortlisting the candidates for the interview.
(c) The screening test shall be waived for academic staff of the University  (including the academic staff of erstwhile Delhi College of Engineering), sponsored applicants from organization having MOU with the University, UGC/CSIR JRF fellowship holders, foreign students who apply through Ministry of Human Resource Development or foreign students under a Cultural Exchange Scholarship Programme of government of India.
(d) The interview shall be conducted by a committee comprising of Vice Chancellor, Chairman, Pro Vice-Chancellor, D-IRD and Ph.D coordinator as common members along with the members of respective DRCs.

Application Form printout along with all required documents and certificates are required to be deposited at DTU at the time of written test/Interview.

Note 1: The list of the shortlisted candidates for screening test for admissions to Ph.D. program will be displayed on the DTU website: www.dtuadmissions.nic.in  on 12.06.2014. Part-time applicants will be eligible under three categories:
(i) Candidates from organizations which have MoU with Delhi Technological University
(ii) Organizations with R&D Labs of national repute
(iii) Regular faculty/Teaching cum Research Fellow or Scientists from Educational Institutions, R&D organizations, and Govt. Department/Govt. Undertaking provided that:
• the applicant possesses the minimum entry qualifications
• the applicant is having at least two years experience in regular capacity.
• the applicant proves to the satisfaction of the University that his official duties permit him to devote sufficient time to research.
• facilities for research are available at the applicant's place of work in the chosen field of research or the applicant can spare sufficient time to pursue research in the Department of the Delhi Technological University on daily basis, residing in the vicinity of the University; and
• he/she will be permitted to reside at the Delhi Technological University for a period of not less than 6 months during his/her registration for the degree. (This condition of minimum residence will be automatically waived for candidates who are working in National Capital Region (NCR) of Delhi or in organisations/institutions located within a distance of 50 km from the Delhi Technological University).

shall be made on the basis of presentation and/or interview conducted at the Institute after the candidate has appeared and qualified in the Ph.D. Entrance Examination by the concerned university.

Admission to Ph.D. is also possible any time during the year through institute’s Academic/Research Degree Committee with the approval of the Director, NITTTR, Chandigarh for all categories of scholars. 

Institute’s Academic/Research Degree Committee will assess the eligibility of candidates and recommend them for enrolment/registration to the university. The candidates are required to fill-in the application form (enclosed in the Ph.D. Brochure of the concerned university) for enrolment/registration. All regulations and rules for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy of the concerned university will be followed.

Categories of Scholars

Full-time sponsored (including QIP (Poly) Scheme of AICTE, New Delhi, CSIR) OR full time {or part time as per university requirement} sponsored working engineers, scientists and teachers from R&D establishments, Corporate Sectors and recognized technical/educational institutions (recognized by the institute). Full Time Scholars admitted under QIP (Poly) scheme, CSIR (INSPIRE), valid GATE score and other schemes (Ph.D. entrance test of concerned university) for limited seats will be paid scholarship (subject to approval) as per rules of various schemes.


Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D. Admission
Minimum Eligibility:
  • Master’s degree in Engineering Education or Engineering/Technology/Management or equivalent in a relevant discipline with minimum 60% marks in aggregate or with a minimum CGPA of 6.75 on a 10 point scale.
  • Qualified the Ph.D. Entrance Examination by the concerned university (exemption from appearance in the entrance examination shall be as per the Ph.D. ordinance of the concerned university).

Basis of Selection:
  • Presentation and interview: Academic/Research Degree Committee of the institute/ university will assess the eligibility of the candidates.

NOTES:
  1. Candidates should first appear in the Entrance Test either by Punjab University, Chandigarh OR Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar before applying to the institute.
  2. Candidates should apply for admission on the prescribed form which is enclosed with Ph.D. Brochure, duly filled in their own handwriting along with qualifying certificate of Ph.D. Entrance Test.
  3. Sponsorship letter should include an undertaking stating that the period of study will be treated as ‘on duty’ with usual salary, and he/she will be relieved for the period of studies, and, all fees will be paid by the candidate/organization as per institute rules.
  4. Full Time candidates as well as Part-time candidates (check rules and regulations of concerned university in respect of Part-time candidates) are required to submit a “No Objection Certificate” at the time of interview from their employers stating that the candidate is permitted to pursue studies on a Full Time / Part-time basis and that
·         his/her official duties permit him/her to devote sufficient time for research.
·         he/she will be fully relieved from duty and permitted to reside at the Institute for a period as per university requirement during his/her registration for the degree. 
  1. The relevancy/equivalency of M.Tech/ME degree for admission to a given discipline will be defined/determined by the concerned RDC of the university.
  2. Admission is subject to vacancy with each supervisor/guide (not more than six) being available in the relevant specializations.
  3. Candidates must be medically fit and must bring alongwith them a medical fitness certificate signed by Gazetted Medical Officer at the time of admission.
  4. The application form along with attested copies of certificates must be submitted to the Faculty Incharge, Academic Cell. The interview for the admission will be held by the Ph.D. Academic/Research Degree Committee of the institute in the office of the Director. 
  5. In case a student leaves the Institute without completing the Ph.D. programme, he/she will be refunded only the Institute security/caution money. All outstanding dues will, however, be recovered before such refund is made.
  6. The Institute reserves the right to alter the schedule of admission, fee structure, financial incentives to candidates if considered, necessary.

Ph.D. Candidature
A student shall be awarded the Ph.D. candidacy on completion of the following requirements:
·          An Internal Academic/Research Degree Committee of the institute shall consider each application, assess the eligibility of candidates, interview them at the time of enrolment.
·          The candidates’ enrolment/registration applications (as per university format) along with the recommendation of the committee will then be submitted to the university.
·          The candidate must qualify Ph.D. course work on one semester as per rules and regulations (minimum standards and procedure for award of Ph.D.) of the concerned university.
·          A student must present a State-of-Art seminar to delineate the current state of knowledge about the specific problem related to which he/she wants to pursue research. The presentation should include the objectives and literature survey of the specific problem, the methodology that he intends to use to conduct the research. This will be an open seminar. The Academic/Research Degree Committee will assess the suitability of the proposed topic/problem for research before submitting to the university for registration. The committee will, on acceptable presentation, certify the fulfillment of these requirements. The candidate shall be required to submit 15 copies of a tentative design (synopsis) for his research project along with his registration form. The presentation can be scheduled at least after one semester but no later than 1 year after his initial registration/enrolment. In case a candidate fails to complete this requirement within 1 year, his enrolment/registration will be cancelled.
·          Candidates are advised to visit the website www.nitttrchd.ac.in regularly for updates.

Monitoring Process
After the candidate is granted Ph.D. Candidature, the progress of the research work will be continuously monitored through bi-monthly presentations/reports before the concerned Academic/Research Degree Committee of the institute (six monthly progress report by January - June  and July-December  in case of Panjab University, Chandigarh) on a prescribed proforma to be sent by the supervisor to the RDC of the university.

Open Pre-Submission Thesis Seminar
There will be an open presentation of the work done by the candidate before the thesis is bound and submitted for evaluation to the university. The Academic/Research Degree Committee of the institute may recommend modification for extending the work required before the thesis is completed. A certificate from the supervisor stating that all modifications, if any, recommended by RDC have been incorporated, the research work being reported is the original contribution of the candidate and the work has not been presented anywhere else for the award of any other degree.

Submission of Thesis
A thesis may be submitted after a minimum period of 3 years from the date of registration/admission (as per university norms). The thesis must strictly fulfill all the requirements on the format prescribed by university. The candidate shall submit four hardbound copies of the thesis for evaluation by the university or as per university requirement.

Thesis Evaluation
Thesis will be evaluated as per the norms of Panjab University, Chandigarh (or PTU, Jalandhar). To evaluate the Ph.D. thesis, a panel of 06 professors/readers will be proposed by the supervisor of the candidate from amongst IISc, IITs, NITs or universities and establishments abroad (Optional in case of Punjab University, Chandigarh). The panel should be duly recommended by the Head of the Department and sent to the Director for his approval/ addition/deletion.




Viva-voce Examination
Based on reports from the examiners of Thesis evaluation, the external examiner will examine the candidate through an open Seminar/Viva Voce for the award of the Ph.D. degree in accordance with the rules prescribed by the university. 

Duration
The minimum duration of the Ph.D. will be 3 years from the date of enrolment/registration subject to a maximum period of 5 years. The extension beyond this period can be granted on the approval of Director of the institute by the Vice Chancellor of the concerned university.

Academic/Research Degree Committee

The institute will constitute an Internal Academic/Research Degree Committee in each discipline of engineering, viz., consisting of Mechanical Engineering (Manufacturing Technology), Civil Engineering (Construction Technology & Management), Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering (Instrumentation & Control), Electronics & Communication Engineering, Engineering Education, and Management, which shall consist of

The committee shall consider each application, assess the eligibility of candidates, interview them at the time of enrolment at the institute.
