Summer School 2015

The courses for the SUMMER School 2015 at CEPT University will run in May-June 2015. Course registration will take place till 5th March, 2015.

Eligibility:
The summer / winter school courses are open to all students who have passed 12th grade or equivalent and who are currently enrolled in the university or institution for college education. Non-CEPT students need to submit a bonafide certificate from their institute via email to summerwinterschool@cept.ac.in

Registration for courses:
Online application can be submitted at http://registration.cept.ac.in/ceptws/

A student can register for courses only after (s)he has paid the fees as per requirement.

A student registering for summer / winter School courses can take maximum of 8 credits and minimum of 2 credits. The fees will be charged per credit basis for summer / winter School courses. Fees do not include any expenses the student may incur for the materials, field visits, travel, and related expenses.
Please note that there will be 5 preferences in the registration form. Kindly choose all the preferences carefully and it will be presumed that all those courses are of your choice. It is possible that the preference that you have chosen is either oversubscribed or undersubscribed, in either of the cases Summer Winter School office will take the decision along with the consent of Dean of the concerned Faculty and Academic Director of CEPT University.

After the 1st round of registration is over and if any of the courses are oversubscribed, the courses will be allocated to the students through the algorithm specially prepared for summer / winter school which is depending upon their preferences given while registration. If the courses are undersubscribed, it will be the joint decision of summer / winter school office, Dean of the concerned Faculty and Academic Director of CEPT University to continue with the course or to stop the same. In any of the cases, the preferences given will govern the course allotment.

The courses allocated to the students will not be changed through any personal request. A student can register for courses in absentia by providing an authority letter addressed to the Registrar, CEPT University.
Those who do not get preferred courses can request for the refund of fees within 7 days of the announcement.

Only Non CEPT Students can withdraw from the course with written request to the Registrar and are eligible for refund of 75% of fee if such a request is received before one month before official start of the summer / winter School.

Eligibility:
a) The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent of minimum three years duration in any discipline, with at least 60% marks or CPI 6.5 [55% or CPI 6.0 in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA) (this may also referred to as Persons with Disability (PWD) category)].

b) Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor's degree / equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. If selected, such candidates will be allowed to join the programme provisionally, only if he/she submits a certificate from the Principal / Registrar of his/her College / Institute stating that the candidate has completed all the requirements for obtaining the bachelor's degree / equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of the certificate. However, marks sheet of qualifying examination must be submitted to the office of Dean (Academic) within six weeks from the last date of registration, failing which the admission shall automatically be cancelled.

c) Applicants should note that the mere fulfilment of minimum eligibility criteria will not ensure consideration for short listing by the Institute.

d) Applicants must have valid score of CAT -2014.

Applications are invited by National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS), Pune from Indian nationals for the award of 'DBT-Junior Research Fellowship' (DBT-JRF) for pursuing research in frontier areas of Biotechnology and Applied Biology.

JRFs will be selected according to merit under two categories:
Category I & II. Category I fellowship (Top 275 in number) are tenable in any University / Institute in India where the students can register for PhD Category II students (100 in number) will be eligible to join any DBT sponsored Project and avail fellowship equivalent to NET / GATE qualifications as per DST Guidelines, subject to selection through institutional selection process. Fellowship will be co-terminus with the duration of project and institutional rules will be applicable. There will be no binding on PIs of DBT sponsored projects to select JRF / SRF for their projects from category II list. Selection in Category II will not entitle student for any fellowship from DBT-JRF programme.

Eligibility
Candidates can appear for BET examination only thrice during their career within the prescribed age limit. Candidates who have completed eligibility qualification in a year will be eligible to appear in that year and two subsequent years. Students who have passed after Jan.1, 2013 or will appear this year (till August, 2015) final examination of qualifying degree is eligible. Students with MSc / MTech / MVSc degree with Biotechnology in title of degree e.g. Biotechnology, specialization such as Agricultural, Animal / Veterinary, Medical, Marine, Industrial, Environmental, Pharmaceutical, Food, Bio-resources Biotechnology, 'Biochemical Engineering, Bio-sciences and Biotechnology, Bioinformatics' and MSc 'Molecular & Human Genetics' and MSc.

'Neuroscience' as well as BTech / BE in Biotechnology (4-year course after 10+2) recognized by UGC / AICTE are eligible for this examination. The applicants should be below the age of 28 years for Open category as on 28th February 2015. Candidates with minimum 60% for general and OBC category (55% for SC / ST / PH) of the total marks (equivalent grade) are only eligible. DBT-BET (category I) entitles a candidate for fellowship subject to PhD registration of the candidate in a recognized university or Institute in the country within 2 years.

Reservations:
Government of India guidelines for reservations will be followed for BET-2015. Age relaxation of 5 years (up to 33 years) for SC / ST / PH and women candidates and 3 years (31 years) for OBC candidates will be given. The age limit will be as on 28th Feb. 2015. SC / ST / PH candidates with 55% of the total marks (equivalent in grade) are eligible to apply.

Details of the Award
The fellowship will be initially for a period of 3 years extendable for 2 more years based on performance. By the end of 2nd year, the performance of JRF will be assessed and will be upgraded to SRF. The fellowship for JRF / SRF will be @ Rs. 25,000/- or 28,000/- per month + HRA as per DST guidelines and research contingency of Rs. 30,000/- per year.

Mode of Selection
The candidates will be selected based on an online admission test, 'Biotechnology Eligibility Test' (BET) to be conducted on 26th April, 2015 at 2.30 pm in the following twelve cities:
New Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Patna, Trivandrum & Ahmedabad.

Eligibility & Qualifications:
Candidate must be Indian National.

Candidate must have passed qualifying examination i.e. HSC (or equivalent) examination with the subject Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.
Candidate belonging to general category must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together at the HSC (or equivalent) examination.
Candidate belonging to backward classes must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together at the HSC (or equivalent) examination.
Candidate should be either of 17 years of age on or attain this age as on 31st December of the Academic year in which admission is sought.
The candidates who are appearing for qualifying examination i.e. HSC (or equivalent) in February / March of the respective academic year are eligible to appear for entrance examination, however they must fulfill the eligibility condition at the time of counseling.
Candidate belonging to general category should obtain minimum 50% marks in CET (Common Entrance Test) conducted by this Deemed University. However, admission will be on the basis of merit.
Candidate belonging to backward classes should obtain minimum 40% marks in CET (Common Entrance Test) conducted by this Deemed University. However, admission will be on the basis of merit.
Candidates studied (qualifying examination) under foreign system in India, are required to obtain equivalence certificate from AIU (Association of Indian University (AIU), New Delhi.).

Eligibility:
MS (Engg.) / MS (Research):
Candidates with an MSc, BE, BTech, ME, MTech or MBBS are eligible to apply. They should have at least 50% in their highest University examination, and should also have qualified in the GATE / UGC -/ CSIR - NET-JRF / ICMR - JRF / DBT-JRF / JEST / INSPIRE or any other equivalent national level examination. PhD:

Eligibility criteria for Int. PhD Programme:
Materials Science:
Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science. Those with Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with an aptitude towards scientific research will also be considered. Candidates are expected to have sound knowledge in the fundamentals of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Chemical Science:
Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science with Chemistry as a major and mathematics as a subject at least up to PUC (10+2 level).

Biological Sciences:
This is offered in two disciplines
(a) Evolutionary and Organismal Biology: Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science / Mathematics / Statistics. Those with Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with an aptitude towards scientific research will also be considered.
(b) Molecular Biology and Genetics: Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science.
For all the above Int. PhD programmes, candidates should have a minimum of 55% marks at the Bachelor’s level. Those appearing for the final examination this year can also apply.
