i) 3-Year Diploma in respective Branch of Engineering and Technology from State Council for Technical Education, Assam or equivalent as recognized by SCTE, OR
ii) 3-Year B.Sc. with minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in aggregate.

Mode of Selection:
1.  The selection of candidates will be based on the marks obtained in the prescribed subjects reduced to 200 (Mathematics -100, Physics + Chemistry -100) in the qualifying examination.
2. The marks obtained by the students in the relevant subjects in the qualifying examination conducted by various Boards or  Authority shall be equated with the marks obtained by the students in the same subjects in the qualifying examination conducted by the State Board of respective state by  adopting the method of normalization (e.g) If the highest  mark secured by the student of State Board in Physics is 100 and the Highest mark secured by a student of any other Board in the same subject is 90 both the highest marks will be considered to be equal to 100.  If a student of the other Board secures 60 marks in physics when the first mark in Physics in the same Board is 90, 60 marks will e considered to e equal to 66.66 marks as arrived below :-

3.  After normalization of marks in the relevant subjects in the qualifying examination conducted by  different Boards, the qualified students shall be merged into a common merit list.
4.  In the case of candidates  who have qualified from National Boards namely CBSE and ISCE, the highest mark obtained in the relevant subject by the candidates at the National Level alone will be taken into consideration for normalization.
5.  The Other Boards will be requested to furnish the maximum marks scored in the relevant subjects.  In case such  marks are not available before the preparation of rank, the maximum marks scored in that Board will be considered as 100%

The Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) has invited applications for fellowships to scholars to pursue research in (i) Modern Indian History and Contemporary Studies (ii) Perspectives in Indian Development (social, economic and cultural) and (iii) India and Changing Trends in World Economy and Polity.

The fellowships are offered at three levels:Junior Fellow, Fellow and Senior Fellow. The emoluments, including allowances, will correspond to that of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor of Central Universities, respectively. CPF/GPF facilities will be extended only to scholars having permanent jobs who take up the fellowship after taking leave without pay from their parent departments. Fellowships offered are for a duration of two years only. Fellows will be based in Delhi except for a maximum of five fellows of the total strength who may be permitted by the Selection Committee to be based outside Delhi.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Senior Fellow: Scholars of eminence who have made a significant contribution to the knowledge in their respective fields and preferably have experience of conducting and guiding research.

Fellow: Good academic record, a Ph.D. or equivalent published work and at least five years teaching/post doctoral research experience.

Junior Fellow: These positions are open to candidates with a good academic record and/or scholarly publications, and preferably a Ph.D. degree.

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for registration for research leading to the award of Ph.D. Degree of Mahatma Gandhi University as per the Revised Regulations for Ph.D. Registration and Award of the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy 2015/2016. The PhD programme is conducted by the university teaching departments, inter-university / inter-school centres and approved research centres of the university.

Eligibility for registration
Candidates who have passed the Post-graduate Examination in any discipline of Mahatma Gandhi University or of other Universities recognized as equivalent thereto ( on or before 31/7/2015) securing not less than 55% marks in the aggregate and have passed the Written Aptitude Test (WAT) conducted by the University in May 2015 are eligible to apply for registration for Ph.D. Those candidates who have passed the WAT 2015, but have not qualified the PG with the required percentage of marks on or before 31, July 2015 are not eligible to apply.

For SC/ST candidates, the minimum marks required for registration is 50% in the aggregate in the Post graduate Examination.

MBBS, BAMS, BHMS and BDS degree holders who have secured not less than 50% marks for their final examinations are also eligible to apply for registration for Ph.D.

CA qualified candidates, that is, persons whose names have been entered as members in the Register maintained by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India are also eligible to apply for PhD registration. ACS qualified candidates whose name have been entered as members in the register maintained by the institute of company secretaries can apply for Ph.D programme in commerce.

The application should be accompanied by letter of agreement from the Head of the Research Centre (The College Principal in the case of an affiliated college centre) where the applicant proposes to do research and letter of consent from the supervising teacher, who has sufficient vacancy.

The application should also be accompanied by three copies of the Research proposal in A4 size paper and in the following format :- 1)Title of research work, Research Area, Discipline, Name and address of the candidate,  Supervising teacher and research centre (All these details should be on the facing page super scribed as RESEARCH PROPOSAL ) 2)Introduction including related studies 3) Importance / Rationale of the study 4) Objectives/Hypothesis 5) methodology including methods, sample and design of work 6)Tentative work schedule ( Year wise) 7) Bibliography/References. The number of pages of the research proposal shall not exceed five. The supervising teacher should sign on the first and last page of the research proposal.
